There seems to be a difference between some aspies.
Lack of empathy causes many theory of mind problems.
Lack of Theory of mind causes many Empathy problems.
They both seem related, or, alike, but are two totally different animals.
I don't know, this is kinda hard for me to describe.
I hope some of you can relate to the difference am trying to get at
so we can start this topic with some good definitions besides my own attempts.
Anyone? Please?

Isn't it that theory of mind is understanding what another is thinking, (that person does not want to be at this party) and empathy is putting yourself in that persons place (I can understand that because I don't want to be here either)?

It depends on what people think of as empathy. Most the time I can grasp empathy and it's a good thing to be able to grasp, IMO
Empathy = good.
Most the time theory of mind is something I don't like because I see it as a corruptive influence. It's what's behind sheep groupthink and mob mentality. It can get you lynched.
I don't trust those with too much ToM.

Theory of Mind is also not accurate. You never really know what someone is thinking. I don't care how they behave or what subtle signals they are throwing at you.

My theory of mind isn't the best but my empathy is great, so when I do know what someone is feeling I feel loads of empathy but at the same time I only have an EQ of 10/80, how does that work??
