I find quite often that if I am stressed about something, for instance a job interview that is coming up, or a driving test, that I cannot think about anything else or enjoy anything such as my music until the even is over.

Same goes for feeling sad. For instance say a good friend of mine is moving away and I am sad about that because I will miss them. I find it really hard to enjoy my other activities such as tv or music and internet until the sadness has gone away.

It's like I can't compartmentalise my sadness, I have to experience it one by one.

I know what you mean, I have those same feelings. For me, it's usually all or nothing. If something occurs which makes me sad, it's really the end of the world. Same thing with something that stresses me out. Nothing else is deserving of my attention once this obstacle becomes reality. Since I've been on anti depressants, I have seen a change in my intensity towards such negative feelings. However these feelings still persist and reveal it's ugly head every so often.

Yes. You need to be gentle with yourself when these times happen.
