Happy Birthday, Wrong Planet! And thank you very much everybody who gave birth to it, and was and is involved in making it work. :D

 .. :flower: .. :thumright: .. :afro: .. :star: .. :drunken: .. WRONGPLANET  .. :drunken: .. :star: .. :afro: .. :thumright: .. :flower: ..

It has made a huge difference to my life. And feels like home, even when I'm pissed off with it, ( which is a lot like home used to be, ... and still is, now I think about it  ).

How has WP changed your life, if at all? Is it an important part of your life?

For me it's a mixture of "social life"/contact and self-discovery/learning and sounding-board for ideas/thoughts/theses, and understanding/support and opportunity for debate/dialogue which is almost impossible in real life.

I've tried a few other boards/forums, both special interest and "identity" based, ( AS or other ), but WP is the only one I've stayed more than a couple of months with. Maybe I just found it at the right time, but whatever, it's got a grip!! ! Do other people find that they feel particularly at home on WP, and know why?

I think part of the appeal is the name. And I also like the layout; it's restful on the eyes, and it's organised pretty well, logically! I get exasperated by a few things; the recurrent "lag" mainly, but I think the atmosphere is generally amazing, considering the size of the membership, ( I know most of them don't post, but even so ).

Happy 5th birthday WP!!
I go on here all the time lol, and even though I've only been on here a few months I've done loads of posts.
To ouinon's questions: it's helped me know my own strengths and weaknesses, I didn't know as much about myself before hand, and there's things I do and say and I though I was the only one who did those, but then a thread would be made about that one thing and I'm like oh wow.

I'm one of the first people who started posted here. It's changed, a lot. Some members came and gone, but other members have stayed from day one. I also like the new members, as well. We have a good mix of the old and the new members, and that's what makes me forward to coming here, each day.

Birthday hugs to everyone, from Sid :O)

5 years is a long time for a message board

Oh and you wouldn't have said a thing if you didn't see the bumped thread :P

Happy birthday WP, I think it is great as it has allowed me to reach out and make contact with my own kind.

5 years is something to be proud of. Congrats to Alex and to everyone who maintains and contributes to this website.

WP lets me communicate with others like me and shows me that I'm not alone - I'm not the only "alien" on earth. I discover and learn things about myself. It makes me think and shows me different viewpoints. It gives me a sense of belonging. It's a place where I know that I won't be laughed at. It (and the people on it) show(s) me that autism is not bad and that it has positive things.
It gives sooo much.

So, why do you all like WP so much? What is it about WP which keeps you here, appeals so much. I mentioned a couple of reasons, above, why it does me, but it's difficult to put my finger on exactly what it is that is so attractive about the site. Unless it's simply "accident" of finding it first/at the right moment?
