My younger brother who is profoundly LFA, is refusing to toilet train himself.

This sucks majorly for my mother, who is having to clean up urine soaked duvets, sofa covers and whatever else he decides to pee on.

Anyone got any advice?

ts a classic autistic trait I'm afraid, I was the same when I was a toddler/aby I stopped at about 3 an a half 4 but even today embarassingly I have really nervou peeing issues whre I literally don't sleep because it hapened when was 8 and 9 and when I was 14
Your mum howev should not put him bac into diapers because it cues reversion and does ot progress your broher like me in the past with eventually understand the progression he needs to take and will stop

I guess I was assuming he was well past toilet training age. I thought I'd never get mine toilet trained because of his gut problems. There are many opinions on the subject and they all disagree with each other. Some say if you let them go diaperless they will be bothered by the mess and self train. I'm for diapers.

You can still toilet train your child when they are in diapers. Just take them off when you take the child to the toilet. To make it easier, pull ups so that you can pull them up and down.

He is 15.

He refuses to even use a loo, he will sometimes pee in a plastic jug but only if he wants to.

But tis certainly a hard process with little help in there, the predicament with your brother not the bnds

That's weird. So he has an intellectual understanding sufficient to pee in a jug, but why doesn't he recognize that, for his own comfort, he can just go in a toilet and avoid all the mess? Does he poop all over himself too?

has he never been toilet trained or has he regressed recently? Is he verbal? I wonder if some sort of reward inducement would work.

If I were your mother I'd get him the adult incontinence pants you can get from the chemist, and if you're in the UK, I think you can get them free of charge for a problem like this.

Regardless of whether or not he ever uses a toilet, your poor mother can't keep on having to deal with soiled bed linen and so on. That must be so dispiriting for her.

Jugs sound better. All you do is dump it and wash it and they can be recycled. In fact some people pee in plastic bottles because they don't want to get up to use the toilet. When i first joined here in 2006, I posts by an aspie who said in his or her posts the bathrooms in his/her home are always taken so he/she keeps plastic bottles with him/her and pees in them.
