Ok. So, i'm thinking about talking to my doc about possibly trying a new ADHD medication... But first i want to see if it's even worth trying.. so, maybe you guys have some input. I stopped taking my Ritalin awhile back, because i think it was giving me tics., But, the thing is, it was actually very helpful in getting me to focus enough to get things done. I usually just want to sit around and i have a very hard time getting myself to do much of anything. I would like to be back on a medication that helps me with that, but i don't want the tics to get worse. I also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and i always hear that stimulants aren't good if you have anxiety disorders... but i don't really think it ever made me more nervous(more twitchy maybe). So.. if one ADHD med gives me tics, does that mean that all of them probably will? Has anyone else had this issue and found one that worked for them without the side effects? Have you ever had an issue with ADHD meds because of anxiety disorders?

I take vyvanse along with zoloft. On vyvanse, I lost 12 pounds in 4 days because it gave me no appetite to eat.

Oh, and i'm on Paxil.

Weight loss is definitely not something that would negatively affect me.

When you take vyvanse, you do have no appetite. I'm on 40 mg myself, and I already have an eating problem, best solution for me, carnation instant breakfast.

I've been thinking about going back on meds too. I've heard Zoloft is good for ADHD, definitely better when combined with stimulant drugs or other meds for ADHD but I'm not going to take those anymore.

The main source of my attention problems, I believe, IS my anxiety. It makes me nervous and scattered, I display few traits of ADHD when I'm not anxious. If you are anything like theis you may also benefit from simply taking an SSRI or another medication used to treat anxiety.

Our son is an 11-yr aspie. He's also been dxd w adhd + anxiety. He takes Concerta in the AM for the adhd, and celexa at night for the anxiety. Ask your Dr. about these two.

For me for ADHD Inattentive, the old medicine - coffee - caffeine compounds - works better (not a cure) than stronger stimulants - alerting agents such as Ritalin, Dexedrine, Adderall, and Adderall XR. Caffeine, for me, works similar to (not identical to): http://www.rsna.org/rsna/media/pr2005/Coffee.cfm (Coffee, for some, not everyone, jump-starts short-term memory) - http://coffeescience.org/alert (mental alertness) - Caffeine may cause nervousness for some users so coffee - caffeine is not for everybody. Caffeine is sold as a FDA approved alertness aid (often caffeine - 100 mg). Good luck.
