How do you determine your mental age. Is there any online tests or ways to tell your mental age? I'm 17 and I still play with lego, i have plenty of toys in my room, i still like to go down to the boys toys section in a shop and I still want to buy them. Any ideas?

Yep, it is called an IQ test!

IQ*chronological age/100=MA!

SO, if you are 12 with an IQ of 120

120*12/100=14.4yo MA
'
BTW there is little correlation between playing with toys and IQ

I don't think you should care. If you like playing with legos and it makes you happy you should do it. Your not hurting anyone. Don't compare yourself to what your peers are doing.

In regards the the reply above this- I do not think playing with toys effects your IQ. I don't have proof to back this opinion but I can't see a logical reason to why it should.

I agree with Saguaro. People will just be people. They see anyone not doing the appropriate activity for their age as immature.

Don't let them sway into conformity. I know what you mean by going to the toy section to get a toy because I go there everytime to get a board or card game. People might look at me, saying, "Isn't he too big to be here?" but I don't let that stop me. If people's comments prevented me from buying the type of games I like, I wouldn't have experienced many innovative gameplay and each game's uniqueness.

I have a childish mind, usually tease my mom and poking and quishing her arms, but that's just who I am. In fact, I didn't stop playing with legos until I was fifteen. I was just that much into them. And with a childish mind I actually became more unique and creative with my writing. Just gives you a lightweight, fast-paced feel, don't you think?

So keep that mindset and you'll make gold in life. Trust me: it's a lot better to stay who you are than to deal with conformity.

Of course there are tests on the net and in magazines that try to determine 'your true age'. The more elaborate among those will have questions on a lot of different subjects, which is also where the flaw of such a test lies: as everyone has different interests firstly, and secondly different rates at which they develop in various aspects of life or personality, one's TRUE age is really one's actual age in number of years, as no two people go through the exact same developments.

People will expect something of a certain age, they pin labels and characteristics on an 'age group' demographic. Playing with toys is never a problem, it provides entertainment at least, and it's harmless. Plenty of adults do it, shamelessly. I still have a lot of things I like to do that have stuck with me from my childhood. I've stuffed animals in my bed, I read superhero comic books, and I watch Transformers on DVD. It doesn't halt my development in any way or hamper my life. I'm still an independent adult, if a very clumsy and awkward one.

Talking about the lego part, people tend to say 'playing' with lego, most aspies however 'build' with lego and most aspies are better in making complicated models.

I lego-ed until I was 15 or 16 (I can't recall the exact year), I didn't saw it as being childish, I saw it as something I was good at, my friends build really stupid non-symmetrical vehicles, on the other hand I was working on a imperial walker of some sort.

anyway I moved on now to game modifications (which I see as the 'replacement' for lego), atm I'm working on Kyle Katarn's bryar gun, I realise now that building with lego gave me a good 3D insight, it helped me getting something 2D (a picture) into 3D.

I still have my lego in my room, I don't do anything with it though since it gives such a mess.

From time to time I still read a lego reclame folder looking at the horrors that they call star wars setts nowadays.

anyway don't feel ashamed of your interests, just F**** anyone who disagrees.

btw if you like building with lego's you might like this website: www.saber-scorpion.com

I don't know if this is relevant, but that "Brain Age" game on the Nintendo DS always tells me that my "brain age" is somewhere around 60. The thing mis-interpreting the numbers i write on the touchscreen accounts for most of the misses, though.... I guess the pencil movements are SORT OF the same for a 3 and a 2.... :?

Thre are plenty of adults and teens that play with lego, lego rocks! Even the most maturest of people like to have a sneaky play with kiddies toys every now and then, so no need to worry about it. Are there other reasons why you want to measure your mental age? If so I am in the exact same position, because emotionally I'm very young and I really want to know my mental or emotional age because I often doubt that I am 16 inside, because I feel 12.
