I have wished for just this sort of thing. I think it will help to avoid duplicate threads. :)

The new search is great. I remember the orignal, WP's own search, which worked wonderfully in finding old posts. Then came the quick-and-dirty Google search, which I hated. Many of the interesting posts from the past were lost, because Google isn't built for searching forums, just the public internet. But the new search I just tried is amazing. It seems like the best of both worlds: the precision of WP's own search from back in the day and the speed of Google.

I'm having trouble but I may be doing something wrong. I put in theory of mind as a search topic and then when it went to the available options I clicked on HFA w/ Hyper theory of mind and it told me the page or topic did not exist. I tried with 2 different links. Am I missing something? This is the only forum I've been on so it may just be ignorance.

I've actually gotten implementation help from google who is powering this new improved integrated search. I'm surprised their custom solution is so good.

I wish. I moderated a huge forum for a while, and all I can say is, they NEVER use the search!

Thanks for the new search, Alex! And good to see you're back in action.

It no longer works for my browser of choice. It now seems to be implimented with Firefox in mind. Even with that browser, I don't notice anything different from the previous google-WP search function. I'd prefer that the previous search be made available again. Thanks.

Er, maybe I'm missing something, but all I see is a little search box that leads to a list of all posts ever written with those words in them... and lots of ads.
Didn't the old search have the ability to search for posts by author and title as well? I'm confused.

It did, yes. Although the ability to search a specific member's posts for keywords was disabled due to it causing server-overload, the search function still allowed you to view all posts by specific members. If you did search a member's posts for a keyword, it would shift to a google mode very similar to what it now is (although it was still better, since it at least worked for me). This new search fuction doesn't work for me at all so, I hope the admin can sympathise with my predicament.
