Thanks! I'm working on that day unfortunately. But I'll have enough time to take my sister over to the UNC stadium for the fireworks display.

thanks!

Not a big patriot myself, I will be wrapped up in headphones and music to drown out the noise... while the rednecks next-door blow stuff up in their driveway.

oops! I made a mistake, it's not July 4th in the USA yet!

This reminds me of the joke that went around here back then, where Arafat called Bush to give his condolences for the 9/11 tragedy, Bush asks him "What attacks? I don't know about any attacks!" and Arafat goes "Oops, I forgot about the time zone difference!"

Anyway, it's July 4th in my country already and we celebrate! All the Marines posted here are getting pissed already, and the USA Ambassador's house smells of hot-dogs already!

Anyone grilling hot-dogs today? Anyone having a traditional holiday?

Ahhh, back when I used to work at the USA Embassy, I'd gorge on Ben&Jerry's ice cream at the Ambassador's mansion on a day like today.

MY crew (family) and I are going to a barbeque hosted by my uncle in Boulder. We're staying the night so I can pick up my friend from the airport in Denver before heading back.

Incidentally, I realized something today... despite being a generally patriotic holiday, the way we celebrate Independence Day is unpatriotic. Think: what do we generally use to celebrate the fourth? Fireworks. Which country is responsible for the invention of - and the largest annual export of - fireworks? China. So which country benefits most from our midsummer pyrotechnical shenanigans? A real no-brainer.

I've been to the fireworks show on the Charles River in Boston a couple of times, but the crowds can get overwhelming. I think it's the best of the big fireworks shows. I usually try to catch it on TV now, but they only show the last hour of the show. Otherwise I don't really do anything. This weekend I'm just going to do some schoolwork and try to teach myself some statistics (just for fun, not school-related).

My mother is barbecuing hamburgers and ribs around 5 o'clock. Then, my sister is going to a party and my mother is going to watching the fireworks. I will be home alone probably until tomorrow. The usual. :D

thank you, GreenTea. We are grilling low fat hotdogs, corn on the cob, potato salad and watermelon tomorrow. The whole neighborhood sets off fireworks , and we go up to the roof to watch them explode all around us.

Thank you, Greentea! Just grilling some food at home, and my husband and kids are periodically watching a Star Wars marathon.
