I was wondering if I am the only apsie here that has to limit their time using WP due to getting overwhelmed with processing so much information.

It seems my brain can get so overexcited and has little filtering, and so the experience of visiting WP although educational and connecting is rarely relaxing and enjoyable.

At times the experience is smiler to being in a supermarket, with all the colours swimming around and then there is the flashing of the advertising surrounding the threads amidst a cocktail of different expressive and idiosyncratic styles.

I have learned to manage myself well though. This breakthrough came when I gave myself permission to not have to read everything perfectly and also I have learned to not feel bad about not reading any text over 20 lines or so. In recognizing my perfectionism in using this site, I have been able to modify my behavior and find a more workable way of using WP, however, I was wondering if sensory overload on WP is something others struggle with?

No I don't read all the posts or all the threads.

I used to get sensory overload from the site. It was just too much for me. Then, I came up with a system to read and respond to only a certain number of posts a day.

Yes, I do. The site WP has many colours, and many things ''to click '', like threats, advertisements, articles and such. There are many things to read and see.

I have sensory issues regarding the ads that flash and move and shake...but unfortunately it does not limit my use of WP....(I am an addict)

Sometimes. I have trouble with huge blocks of text that have no paragraphs, ads, and the like.

I don't like the flashy jerky adverts.

And when someone posts a Russian Novel as a response, I just skip it...

You guys need to get some ad blockers. It really cuts down on the screen clutter.

I don't even look at the ads. Only read the posts whose headers intrigue for whatever reason. My biggest frustration with WP is that it's sometimes a little sluggish loading from one page to the next and gets overloaded by traffic too easily. It actually feels more like home to me than any other site on the net. Some weeks you guys are the closest thing I have to human contact. Not that there's anything wrong with that... 8O

I can totally indentify with this. I too have given myself permission to just cruise the site and pitch in where and when I can.

In fact, the other day I made a post about "Things that may make you think it's NOT Aspergers". I thoroughly read and enjoyed every single response on that thread, but by the time I got to the end of it all, I couldn't even bring myself to post anything stating that I'd followed up on my own post. I felt bad for a few minutes, then just decided to let myself off the hook. Afterall, I know most of you can totally understand.

I just get mesmerized by that belly button. It looks like some alien is going to pop out of that dimple. 8O

The print ads by Google are better. I actually read them.

The Total Transformation programme is just tough love repackaged at a higher price. I prefer Barbara Colaroso's books. :)

I know exactly what you mean. It's true for me too. My kids are the ones I interact with the most IRL but they're young and sometimes I really do need to have some adult conversation. I come here because I'm not good with phones and social phobia's keep me social things.

In regards to the OP, there are times when I sit for a long time and do a lot of reading, but other times it's just too much. If someone posts a really wordy entry with no breaks in the paragraph, I have to skip it. I can't handle one huge wall of text. It doesn't process properly
