A/C and sleep?

Does anyone else have to turn the temp on the AC way down to sleep during the summer? I have as I cannot sleep when it is humid out. If it is hot I feel like I cannot breathe. I have to have the temp at 60 to 70 to be able to sleep comfortably.

Same here. It has to be cool (not freezing cold though) before I can sleep. Also, I can't stand hot, humid days outside...they make me miserable.

If it's humid (Dewpoint above 65), there's no chance in hell that I'll sleep. I can't seem to sleep if the temperature (humid or not) is above 75 either. However, my parents never want to run the A/C, so it's very tough for me.

I don't sleep well when it's hot either, and I like a sheet over me. I don't use an AC...I have to pay my own electricity bills...I think eventually I just get used to less sleep, get exhausted enough to sleep, and am a little grouchy all summer.

I could never survive someplace humid! I love staying in hotels when I travel because I can turn up the AC.

I also have a hard time sleeping when it's hot. I have to run the A/C, but I end up with a bit of a quandry. I like to sleep when it's cool, so I want the A/C on. However, my A/C unit is very noisy, so that makes it hard for me to sleep, too. So, A/C on so it's cool, but I've got the noise. A/C off so it's quiet (relatively speaking), but I'm very uncomfortable in bed. I usually stick with the A/C on because I can deal with the noise better than I can deal with the heat.

I always have to set the A/C for 74 degrees at night. I have to sleep with a blanket over me, because I can't sleep with air moving over my skin (the air conditioner causes just a sheet to blow some, hence why I need a blanket).

AC is not the same as regular cold weather to me. I don't really like it. I'd rather be warm, I think.

The temps usually have to be below 75 for me to sleep and not humid. I do pay my own electric bills but since I like it cool in the winter too and the heat is electric, I save then. The problem though is that my A/C is a wall unit that is old and inefficient (although I found the manual online and saw ways to clean it to get more efficiency. In any case, it will be next year when I replace it.

Yeah, I have a really hard time getting to sleep if I don't have the a/c on. Right now mine's set to 61, which is the lowest my little window a/c will go.

I never had A/C growing up (and it would get really hot and humid in the summer). I would sleep in underwear on top of my sheets, and point the fan directly at my body. Being hot and sticky all summer was just something I had to get used to.

I live in an extremely hot and humid place and can't sleep in summer without A/C. I too save in winter because it doesn't get very cold here, so warm clothes and 2 quilts is enough, no need for heating at home. I realized only a few days ago that my problem is the humidity, not so much the heat.

The noise bothers me A LOT, but I'm grudgingly realizing that I need to have the swamp cooler running at night in order to sleep.

Over 75 degrees makes it incredibly difficult to sleep, and even running it all day will still leave me with 77+ degrees inside after turning it off.


Earplugs also make it difficult to sleep. Pick your poison, I guess.

Then again, I live in Texas, and it's an unusually hot summer, even by Texas standards.

I live in the San Antonio-Austin area, and the average high temperature is 95 degrees, but it has been around 103-107 degrees nearly every day for the past six weeks. It reached 112 degrees one day, and the heat index (what the actual temperature plus the humidity makes it feel like) was 123 on another day.

I don't have an AC. Oh god, I do not miss summer. I can barely sleep with one blanket. Actually now that it's winter I've been sleeping a lot better. So yes, maybe I can't sleep when it's really hot.
