Food issues
This thread deals with a few different issues, which I'll number.
1. Do you like food? I don't really. I get hungry and all, of course, and I eat plenty. But I don't enjoy food like a lot of people seem to.
2. Are you picky with your food? I tend to like eating the same bland foods every day. I hate surprises in my food.
3. Do you have any suggestions to help me expand my diet? I've been gaining weight over the years, and while I'm not exactly all that overweight now it's starting to become a worry. I also have digestive problems which have surfaced since around the time I started gaining weight. The first thing I've been told to target is my diet, which is generally cereal-bread/chicken-pasta every day. But this is extremely difficult for me to do, because I find eating anything I dislike puts me in a very bad mood. If anyone has felt similar to me and has managed to change, or knows people who have done this, some tips would be appreciated.
Same here, I want the same bland stuff everyday!!, I hate certain textures and tastes. I could go without food if I didn't get hungry. I used to be skinny when I was active, now I'm 46 and a little overweight. It's the pasta, I like the texture and it's bland, add flavor to it and I don't like it. I hate all pasta salads, I only like heated pasta not refrigerated pasta. I eat alot of cereal to, but it has to be bland, like cheerios (plain), or other pland cereal.
I am very picky with food but not to the point where I'm that guy lol I am very picky at home but when I am with my friends at a restaurant I will usual have the food I really enjoy like rare steak hee
I have issues with textures and they instantly play my gag reflex
One food I truly enjoy is chocolate the taste an texture is varied an I perticularly enjoy posh chocolates like champagne truffles or lemon cremes because the varying texture I love food though I have narrow food tastes but I find it very stimulating
I have food issues too, certain food makes me sick. Usually it potato chips, rich foods, and soft drinks. When I started to eat healthy oh it was so terrible but I had to lose weight and get fit so I clenched my teeth and eventually I started to like it.
I do enjoy eating food. I love strong flavour in food, well it's strong to me because I'm so sensitive. But I really enjoy it.
I usually have the same thing for breakfast; toast or oatmeal with a coffee. And I have at least one piece of fruit a day - an apple because I become ill if I eat or drink anything with oranges in it. I love Pineapple juice too but you'll usually see me drink water. It has zero calories so if you want to lose weight make water your only beverage.
Dinner for me is usually chicken, vegetables and rice, although I can eat other things. It's just all I know how to make.
Here are some tips: Wholemeal is healthier than refined. Replace soda, alcohol, juices with water. Fruit, yoghurt and 100 only calorie treats for snacks. Nuts are quite good but do have fat in them. You need a little bit of fat and sugar in your diet. Good fats like olive oil and avocado. Natural sugar found in fruits. Don't eat too much meat or dairy. Even though it's not recommended don't eat too much bread. You can lose weight faster if you don't eat too much bread. I went right off the stuff and lost so much weight but felt weak, so I don't recommend going completely off bread. But you must, I repeat must eat a lot of vegetables.
Exercise at least an hour a couple times a week. I go on long walks and my weight stays the same.
I lost 10 Kg in less than three months, and kept it off all by eating 1300 calories a day, which included very few snacks and I exercised 3-4 times a week, around an hour in length. I did cardio, weights and crunches.
You just got to really be strict on yourself. For three weeks on my diet I didn't touch a single unhealthy snack.

1. Do you like food?
Yes! When I started dating my now-wife, she really got me into it. She's always trying new recipes, which I do enjoy. If left to myself, I have a tendency to settle on the ones that I know I like.
2. Are you picky with your food?
I used to be somewhat picky. I completely eat each dish off my plate before moving onto the next one. I didn't like any of the foods to mingle with each other. I didn't like food that was all jumbled up, like casseroles. I hated certain textures of food, particularly mushrooms and spongy foods. I'm totally grew out of almost all of this, though. Now I love pretty much everything except bell peppers and olives, and like spicy food.
3. Do you have any suggestions to help me expand my diet?
Some of the food aversions that I had as a kid I just didn't have anymore, and I didn't realize this was the case. I thought I hated tomatoes, for instance, but then I thought that I should get over this. I realized that I objected the most to the big, water, seedy center of them. So my wife seeded them for me and I realized that I liked them. Then I started eating grape tomatoes, then cherry tomatoes, then big, full tomatoes without being seeded. So if you can find a food that you think you hate and give it a try in a minimal context, something that won't make-or-break a meal for you, then "work up" to your objection about it, it may help.

2. Are you picky with your food? I tend to like eating the same bland foods every day. I hate surprises in my food. Yeah, every week I buy the same food from the supermarket and eating out at friends is always a problem
3. Do you have any suggestions to help me expand my diet? Work with an NT, preferably a friend. Once in a while you might surprise yourself, for example I found ostrich meat quite tasty.

the one thing would recommend for food issues is see a dietician if haven't already-go to GP to be referred to one, they don't preach and demand things, but work to improving things, and can prescribe meal replacement milkshakes/soups if needed [UK GPs dont like to do this because of the cost].
am do not like food and hate the feeling of a lot of types in throat/mouth-though some of it is better than others, diet is extremely limited,am have one small bit of food per day though often go without anything but it's more regular than it used to be.
am prescribed ensure milkshakes which depending on the flavour are easier to swallow as its just thin liquid, neither have ever felt hunger/a want for food, which is often talked about by those on diets as they have the opposite problem of wanting food too much and think it's great being able to avoid stuffing self with the stuff they do,but am also have a condition called pica as part of own autism and am probably eating and chewing the stuff should not be touching more than stuff should be,so it isnt the perfect experience they think it is.

1. Do you like food? Yes, sometimes it's hard to eat though.
2. Are you picky with your food? Picky, yes, and also have narrow dietary requirements. I also like the same kind of foods all the time, and rather bland. I can't eat dairy products (cow's milk, I am lactose intolerant) and I find too much fibre or fat/oil causes problems. Vegetables are a problem too.
3. Do you have any suggestions to help me expand my diet?
Hmm. I like rice bubbles with low fat soy milk, plain chicken sandwiches with low fat mayo (add lettuce if your stomach can tolerate eating it), and canned tuna drained of oil and mashed into hot rice.
I also try to take a walk to the shops to buy my food every day.

Not really. I do like some tastes. Were it possible to get another energy source to maintain myself in stead of eating, i would choose it if it still was possible to sense some of the best tastes.
Just do the math. Get enough everything necessary to keep you healthy.

I have a big problem with food. I am a very picky eater and I often judge food by how it looks and smells. If it looks bad, I won't eat it. The only foods I really like are foods from fast food restaurants like fries, chicken nuggets, pizzas, cheeseburgers etc. (And even with cheeseburgers, I'll only eat plain cheeseburgers with ketchup, but nothing like pickles on it.)
Of course, I eat most sweets like chocolate and I'll also eat most desserts like ice cream and cake (but it'll depend on what kind of cake it is.)

1. Do you like food?
I do sometimes, but generally not all that much. I think that's mostly because I'm not a cook good.
2. Are you picky? Yes. There are a lot of foods that gross me out. I was doing Weight Watchers Online for a while (I couldn't stay focused on it, though, and didn't lose any weight), and I wanted to try the pre-planned meals, because I thought it might take some of the pressure off. I couldn't do it, though, because the meals often contained revolting food. I will NEVER put something in my mouth that is called, "Fat-free sour cream." What the heck is that?? How can it be cream if it's fat-free? Cream is FAT. Or peanut butter that has stuff in it other than peanuts and salt. It disgusts me.
I go for many days without eating fruits or vegetables, because I can't stand the texture, or I can't find any in the store that look good. I love the taste and texture of a perfect pear or peach, but sometimes you bite into one and it's like a cottony spongy thing. , and it puts me off fruit for a few weeks. Other times, I eat a lot. Same with meat. Some days, I love the idea of a nice, juicy steak, and other days it's so revolting, I can't bear it. Especially having to handle it and cook it yourself.
I could happily live on a steady diet of nothing but crusty French bread, Guinness, tea, and coffee-flavored Hagan Daaz. Unfortunately, gluten (which is in the bread AND the Guinness) makes me have dizzy spells, so I'm trying to avoid that.
3. Do you have any suggestions to help me expand me diet?
Well, no. But I'm not convinced that people really need all that much variety. I think there is a lot of unnecessary hype around all that. I mean, when my mom was a kid, you didn't eat fruit in the winter at all, because there wasn't any. You ate what was seasonally available where you live.
I go through phases where I am determined to eat all these different vegetables and stuff, and I just end up wasting money and throwing half of it away anyway.

I have been picky my whole life. I am afraid of new foods and I often smell it first before I eat it. If it looks creamy I am not going to eat it. When I was little all I would eat were softboiled eggs, bananas, sausages, fish fingers, chicken filet and potatoes. I hated cheese I wouldn't even touch a pizza! I also hated tomatoes and I wouldn't touch a hamburger. Condiments like ketchup, ranch and mayo are yuck! I always get yelled at for being fussy.
