It has been widely discussed on other threads that Big Bang Theory has very nerdy and quirky characters exhibiting AS traits, especially Sheldon.

Please vote in the poll and give explanations in your post.

For the record, on normal low-stress days I am a lot like Leonard but when I am tired or stressed out, I become a lot like Sheldon, my language and speech patterns particularly.

Well... I think i'm somewhere between Leonard and Sheldon, but I voted Leonard. It's mostly because i'm more like him in that he seems to really try to get along with and have relationships with other people, even if he is a little inept at it. I actually think he's a lot more socially functional than i am, though. My abilities fall more toward the Sheldon-y side, but i have more of a drive than him to actually try to make social connections, if that makes any sense. Sheldon is usually pretty cold and unemotional, dealing just with facts and stuff.. And that is what my tendencies are, but because i know this i go out of my way very often to be nice to people and show them that i really do care(even if i'm not good at showing it with the body language and everything, and don't always realize what they're feeling). I'm also not usually as "crazy" as Sheldon, with having to have things just a certain way. I probably wouldn't mind that much if someone messed up the cushion on my favorite spot to sit, and i certainly wouldn't turn down tagging along with friends on a trip to vegas, to give a couple examples. But i definitely have a lot more quirks than Leonard. I can be really nit-picky sometimes, and i misunderstand things that other people do a lot. But then Sheldon has a really exaggerated love of routine, and i can't identify with that very much. So, yeah... Sort of in between.

For me it is the unlikely and difficult combination of Sheldon and Raj as I'm totally disconnected and clueless socially,
and my life is endless contemplation of abstract spaces yet unlike Sheldon am very much into the the other sex
usually to the point of paralysis, much like our Indian friend

Great show and great acting though at time i find the point of view taken by the creators a bit insulting to our race
but at least we are on screen, recognize ! !!

I'm quite certain I'm none of them.

(None have AS; they're just a stereotypical presentation of bookworms/nerds.)

maybe i'm a bit like Raj in the fact that i can't talk to the opposite sex,
but i've not seen the show much, so my knowledge is very limited.

<------------ I'm surprised you have to ask 8)

But there is a healthy dose of Raj's shyness IRL

I voted that I am Penny, but I'm probably more like Sheldon's mother (and by the way -- I disagree that none of the characters are on the spectrum -- maybe three are not, but Sheldon is pretty textbook . . .). I just really hope that I'm not like Wolowitz's mother -- SHE'S SCARY!

I absolutely LOVE this show. I think that Sheldon shows ALL sides of being on the spectrum, including many of the endearing traits. I swear every week that one of the writers either has Asperger's, or has a relative with Asperger's. This is the one show that my son will quit Wii or being on the computer and RUN into the family room to watch and laugh at with us as a family. It's really getting to be popular with the general population of America as well. I heard that it's in the top ten shows for the summer.
