I can't say that every summer this happens to me, but it seems like the worst of my symptoms or meltdowns or massive loss of executive function happen in summer. I am a mess right now functioning-wise (friends, housework, depression), my house is a mess, I feel like my brain is made of molasses and can't seem to get myself out from under it. The same exact thing happened to me last July. And now that I think of it, several other June-August's. Anyone else?

I can't stand the heat (we are in New England so it's about 80's) and I can't stand sunlight either, so I am cooped up more often. But wow, this is awful!

I don't know how old you are but maybe it's because your routine changes in the summertime? (no school, vacations, etc)

A very valid thought, and I think it was definitely true for me when I was in school. I always had transition issues (mostly massive stress) every summer and fall. But now I'm 38, and this summer thing has held true for me even when I was in the working world, when nothing much changed by season. I'm probably headed for that "back to school stress" when my kids start school.

Low grade allergies, as well as heat lay me out in the summer. I've found that loratadine helps with the allergies (the only symptom I have is an itchy scalp). It took me years to realize the allergy connection because I really don't have much in the way of symptoms.

It's in the 90's here now, and I find that I'm done by 10 am for outside stuff. I become very dependent on lists because the ol' cogs don't turn well.

As some folks take up handy crafts in the winter, I am starting to do that in the summer. It's my inside season. :) And I eat lighter, too.

Make sure you're getting your daily dose of Vit. D (sunshine or pill)... it looks like it's important for mental attitude.

Does that mean that currently, your kids are around most of the time? Ever heard that bit about insanity being hereditary, you get it from your children?

I hate summer. It can get to 40 degrees (110 farenheight) here and it's just unbearable to me. I'm not sure if my symptoms are worse, but I did have a lot of problems last summer.

Same situation here.

I hear you about the heat. It got up to 112 degrees a few days ago.

Hmmm, probably very true. I am a parent with ASD, with a 3 year old son on the spectrum, and a 2 year old son not yet diagnosed but almost surely headed there. That's probably got something to do with it too. :eew:

Can't stand the heat and light either - summer is definitely not my favourite season!

for me, September/October to April/May, are my worst months. I am trapped inside all of the time. I hate being cold. I love spring and early summer. I don't like it hot, but I can handle it( as long as it is not too hot and humid). Being cold is what I can't stand.
In the summer, I love to garden, get outside and do things with my kids. If the sunlight is too bright, I wear my wide brimmed hat( I wear glasses, and don't like wearing sunglasses that make everything look unreal and monotone) I love to go camping and to the zoo. I am a very outdoors person, and don't like it cold( cold is painful), so summer is my best time. I get very depressed during the winter. I feel trapped, and more islolated from everything in the cold months. The tempurature that I like it at is anywhere between 76 degrees Farenheit to about 89 degrees Farenheit. In my townhome that I used to live in and the heat was paid, I kept it at 80 degrees F all year round.

Absolutely. I held a record number of meltdowns this past June. Maybe it's the heat? It's been unusually cold here though, so I'm not sure. Maybe some atmospheric...barometric...polarity thing is to blame? :D

I've always been a summer person, I hate being cold. I find winter depressing. But I read somewhere a theory that most Aspies like cold weather best. What I hate most about where I live, is when it rains nonstop for like a week, but this can happen in any season.

I hate both the heat and light. I get very little done during the summer. When i have had a job in the past, it's always been a lot easier in the winter months. Walking out of my house in the dark, being splashed with rain, i don't understand why people do not like winter.

I also crawl in my shell much more when it's too hot. The heat is so uncomfortable to me that I cannot think straight and I have much less energy to cope with my autism. For me it's just like being tired; then the symptoms are worse too.

Winter is the best time of year ;)

The depression could be reverse-SAD(Seasonal Affective Disorder). It's very rare in with reverse, but I think I have it.

I reckon I'm the opposite, Winters and the long nights are worse for me. Right now I'm on a high.
