:x
She was just like all the rest! She kept telling me to speak up as she coudn't hear me, she also kept pushing me for answers like what do i think about.
It seems that the official answer to ALL of my problems is: Just do more excercise, get a new hobby and take yet another type of medication.

I want to complain to my GP but she is on holiday this week and next. :(

This afternoon i'll go to my local drop in centre and ask for some advise from them as they seem very nice and understanding, plus they have experience with ASDs.

If anyone has any other suggestions, i'd be glad to hear them.
Thanks, Justin.

Whoops, typo in thread title, could a moderator correct it for me please! (&q should be ") Thanks.

That's unfortunate. I might be able to advise if you provide more detail.

What was her conclusion/diagnosis?

For how long did she see you?

Did she ask you about AS-related traits?

What tests, if any, were conducted?

Did the doctor who referred you write to her about your traits and what you were there for?

Your GP should be able to advise you on the next step. I am going to drop in somewhere today as well regarding a complaint about autism services in my area.

Thanks! :)
There was no conclussion or diagnosis as far as i am aware, but it sounded like she was just quoting straight from a book about depression, that seemed the only thing that concerned her.
The whole interview was over in half an hour, (too short!?)
The only "tests" she did were to give me a couple of questionaires about depression and anxiety, with 10 questions on each.
As to what the doctor said when requesting this refferal i don't know exactly (not my usual GP) and my normal doctor thought it was for what i'd asked about.

I came out feeling much worse than when i went in, as she put me under pressure and i so nearly cracked! as it was, i struggled to talk. :(

Will there be any further stages to this assessment? It wasn't just a preliminary one was it?

If not, then it sounds incompetent. 1/2 hour is too short as well.

I'm going back next friday but AS was never mentioned.
She is sending me a chart to fill in every day about my moods and feelings and what i do everyday.

Maybe i should have prepared to put my case for an ASD forward to her, but presumed she must be an expert, or at least be able to recognise signs so an expert could take over.

That's some good news, but not good that AS was not mentioned. That's poor communication.

I think it's a good idea to put your case for AS forward next time in case they try to brush you off. Have you gathered any notes or information for that purpose?

You could fill out these questions on development or get a family member to do it: http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/asp ... twood.html

Also, bring along your test results from the AQ, EQ, Aspie Quiz etc. and before going, use the diagnostic criteria to summarise how AS applies to you, mentioning things like social difficulties, intense interests (such as the memorising you did with cars), stimming, sensory sensitivities, and motor clumsiness.

Thanks outlier, you remembered some of my earlier posts! :D

As for motor clumsiness, hows this? the other day while shaving i managed to slice a chunk out of my finger nail with the razor, it was the hand that was holding it as well! 8O

Impressive!

Another thing that might be useful is to request a copy of your referral letter. It could be very important if you ever need to make a complaint. My GP usually provides me with copies of such letters without me asking.

I'm going to the drop in place soon to seek advice. I hope the waiting time is not long.
