I don't mind a jovial, down-to-earth friendliness , its the over-emotive, too helpful friendliness that sends up the red flags for me. Those people are putting on a mask because they want something.They seem to think that if they sugar-coat everything with
faux goodwill, it will be harder for others to say no. I may not know much from social signals, but I recognize that plastered-on Cheshire Cat grin when I see it.
