now that gluten has been exposed, i hope we expose this other nonsense

sure!! !, if you have lead poisoning or something like that, you need to have your blood go through dialysis to excrete the lead

BUT NOT AN OTHERWISE HEALTHY CHILD....IF NOT DONE PROPERLEY, IT CAN HARM THE LIVER AND KIDNEYS(and still might if done properley)

IT ALSO TAKES OUT ALL OTHER VITAL METALS AND SUCH AND SUPPLEMENTS CANNOT REPLENISH IT

sorry everyone i'm having a semi-meltdown, lol.but all this nonsense has to be stopped

I don't understand why parents believe th is works without evidence that their child actually has heavy metal poisoning. Of course if an autistic did also have heavy metal poisoning,- chelation is indicated, but not for the autism (although of course the autistic symptoms may get better).

Chelation is so 1990s. And if a child or adult is suffering from heavy metal toxicity, chelation therapy needs to be performed under the close supervision of a physician and dietitian.

Magic food cures are famous and ancient. It's almost a sport of sorts: what will this year's magic diet or mental health cure be?

Most people proceed through life without looking at the evidence to support or contradict what they are doing. A quick list of all the things people believe makes this clear. From Bible literalism to angels, fairies, ESP, talking to the dead, and homeopathy, people believe all sorts of things. Michael Shermer wrote book called "Why People Believe Weird Things".

I read it because I have always been puzzled by belief since belief does not come naturally at all to my highly systematic and pragmatic brain. I prefer to use the idea: "do the experiment" (or better, read the results of someone else's experiment before I try something on my own).

Oh no not again !

I think that Chelation is not a reasonable treatment for autism or aspergers. I have looked at some of the "work" of the chelation doctors. Some of the chelation "experts" use EDTA which I do not think will be good for mercury removal. Not that I think that mercury causes autism or AS.

http://autismchelation.com/

Also if you look at http://www.dmsa-chelation.info/, you will see the claim that mercury vapour in air is the oxide. I think that this is plainly wrong, there is a five minute experiment which can be done which shows that this is not true.

If you release some mercury vapour into the air of a room then you can see that the air becomes more able to absorb the light from a mercury discharge lamp. Do not try this at home or in the lab as you will expose yourselves to mercury fumes. In other experiments it can be shown that mercury vapour in air is not in the form of the oxide.

If the person gets that point wrong, then I would ask what else they are getting wrong.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

I didn't know about the gluten debunking. I just looked it up. Lots of angry parent comments arguing with the Mayo study. Interesting. The discussions reminded me of the vaccine discussions.

a true gluten free diet is a
'passover kosher diet"..........that means you are so limited to nothing but twigs and unlevend bread..mmmmmm, yummy

i know a little NT girl who is on the diet because her younger autistic sister is on it

the nt girl looks yellow and pasty...she looks so unhappy, and i know she is being denied the proper nutrients

people say it improves their condition, but i dont believe it....symptoms always improve with age, and some take it to be because of the diet.......BULL S#%&
