Hi

Does anyone have any recent experience of getting an adult AS diagnosis in the UK?

Hi Taxshop. I was finally diagnosed this year by Professor Digby Tantam at Dilemma Consultancy in Sheffield, which is a private clinic. They required a letter of referral from my GP first, which he made as he agreed with me that something was wrong, but was not qualified to make any kind of diagnosis himself.

Thanks. I had seen the Dilemma website but it didn't make it clear if they accepted referrals from GPs or only from specialists, so that's a big help :)

You're welcome! The fee was a little over £400; that was for a 2-hour assessment with Professor Tantam, and a report from him afterwards to myself and my GP.

I did not have to do any tests; he just talked to me and asked me about my life, my thoughts, what problems I experienced, etc. I assume that perhaps there might be tests if the patient were a child who could not express themselves so fully, but it wasn't necessary with an adult.
