Stupid Avatars!

Try as I might, I can't find an avatar that works...
I scanned through a library of Joy Division images, and even though I tried endless thumbnail-sized ones, they just won't appear on this site.
Any advice? :idea:

Find any avatar you like, save it on your computer, and then upload it on something like Photobucket. Just copy and paste the URL link given beneath the picture once you've logged onto Photobucket in Link to Off-Site Avatar. Just make sure it's within the requirements for size for WP.

Or you could find any picture you like, save it to your computer, download a program such as PhotoFiltre (it's free), and with that you can alter the size of your picture, upload it to Photobucket, and follow the same procedure as above.

I just added an avatar last weekend. The avatar has to have a file size less than 6.0Kb and less than 130 pixels by 130 pixels in length and height. Some thumbnails are too big to fit. It may take much searching to find one small enough that you like. Once you find one you can save it on your computer and use the "Upload Avatar from your machine" option if the "Upload Avatar from a URL" won't work. That's what I ended up doing.

You can only use the upload avatar from a url option if you have it saves somewhere else ON THE INTERNET. Some sites that host images for free:

www.ripway.com
www.photobucket.com

((Those are my favorites, there are others))

BTW they can be a bigger FILE size if they're fomr off site, but remember we want the page to load as quickly as possible. But do keep the pixel size- width especially- at the desired size.

rename the file to a gif file.
