Howdy Aspies! I only recently, within the last year, came to terms with the fact that I might have Asperger's. My best friend, who has recently been diagnosed with ADHD, has been on to me get formally diagnosed. I didn't think too much of it at first but lately my compulsive behaviors and anti-social tendencies have been getting more and more difficult to deal with. I would like to get a formal diagnosis but I'm not sure where to start looking. So if you Texas Aspies can help me out I'd really appreciate it. Fortunately, my university is located near all of Texas' most major cities so distance doesn't matter much.

Thanks!

Hello Fellow Texan!

Cannot help you to get diagnosed, just wanted to say HOWDY!

i live just north of Boerne (which is just north of SA)

I am currently in Baghdad, not that it matters, noone really cares, hard to find a sympathetic Aspie!

Sorry, feeling a little disconected from people at the moment, I want to come home but i need to earn money.

enough whining, you will continue to work or the floggings will continue!!

Damn feeling schitzophenic today also.

good luck.

How close are you to the Dallas area? That's the big city my college is closest to.

My parents had em diagnosed but I remember it had to do with going to some sort of psychiatrist/psychologist that runs several tests on you. Talk to someone in that field, they should know what to do or who to talk to.

Howdy!

What university do you attend?

I live in Houston, Texas for the meantime and I'm a recent Aspie diagnosis myself.

I soon will be leaving in a few months to go to Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

The man I got diagnosed from is here in Houston. If you'd like I can get you in contact with him somehow. But I would just look for some psychologists in your area, and see if they are familier with Asperger's.

I am in Houston..but not diagnosed...I would like to know of resources in my neck of the woods. Had bad experience with Adult ADD clinic...Would liketo find some nice sliding scale professionals who I don't feel as though they are in it for the money and trying to take advantage of me.

Howdy! I'm actually an Oregonian, just posing as a Texan for the moment. I couldn't tell you where or how to get diagnosed, sorry. I am self-diagnosed and and am still not sure if it would be wise to make it official. I'd suggest looking into the possible drawbacks of having a DX before you go get one.

Hi Chim,

Sorry about thread stealing but I am in the same situation, what drawbacks are there?

Hi! I'm from Texas originally but I moved up here to Indiana when I was six, so I probably can't help you there. It is nice to see other Texans around though!

BTW, I'm actually going to be back down in Houston again this summer! That's where I'm from!

I'm not entirely certain. I initiated a thread on the subject a little while ago because I was concerned that a Dx could potentially be used against me were I ever in a custody battle, which it almost certainly would be. I did hear that insurance could be denied... but I honestly don't remember much of what else was said. sorry. Try starting a new thread. I'm sure others are wondering as well.

I'm not ignoring you btw, chef, I just haven't had a moment. :)

Oh no! Some uneducated leet-speaking 12 year old put down Texas based off of nothing but his regional bigotry and stereotypes. I guess he's just too qualified for us to disagree with (sarcasm).
