My mate tried this 'joke' out on me and some of her NT friends. Whilst it is earth shatteringly funny to the NT's she has noticed that the AS's are not 'getting it' ME INCLUDED!! I have had it explained to me now but still don't find it funny (although I laughed just to please my mate!!)

This may be sampling bias, and may be culturally determined, so I'd
like to know, if anyone cares to respond, whether this is funny to you
or not.

"A woman walks into a bar and asks the barman for a double entendre.

So he gives her one"

Right. That's it. Any responses gratefully received. :D :D :D

OOOH and if it has been explained to you, that doesn't count!!

I don't get it. What's a double entendre?

Is that a type of drink?

i sorta get it, but it's one of those things i just sorta smirk at when someone tells it. its because i'm not quite sure what a "double entendre" means, but i'm sure it has to include TWO things, not just one.

I do know what I double entendre is, but I don't get the joke. I even tried saying it out loud in case is was one of those soundalike jokes (which I generally find irritatingly contrived) but I couldn't get anything out of it.

Well, I get where they're going with the joke, and I've seen versions of this joke before, but this particular punchline is very poor. Basically, the poor punchline completely spoils the joke.
