Random Google search results:

http://www.ssa.gov/pgm/links_ssi.htm
SSI. Income for disabled people. Generally takes a year or more to be approved.

http://www.snap-step1.usda.gov/fns/
Food stamp eligibility. This works a lot faster.

http://www.rehab.cahwnet.gov/
Department of vocational rehabilitation, to help your friend get a job.

Medicaid.

You're going to want to apply for SSI right away, since it takes so long. Even if she gets approved, she should keep trying to find work or training in work skills, since working at all won't kick her off until she supports herself for a while; and being on SSI is a good way to get onto Medicaid too, which is about the only insurance you can get with a long-term medical condition like autism. Keep on the voc rehab people. Call constantly. They often need to be kicked to get off their butts and help you find work.
