I'm going to be on the public access show that I help out on in November to talk about Asperger's.

I'm also thinking about putting together a little documentry video about myself and my world.

Here's a sample script that I'm working on

Ec

Basically what Asperger's is, it's high functioning Autism, it's social shyness, and it's being blind in seeing social situations or knowing when a conflict is solved and done with. And it's hard to move on from past conflects. Every Aspie has an interest that becomes our soul or way of life. Mine is Irreverent Satirical Humor through puppetry and cartoons. I performed at The Groton Public Libarary for about 8 years. I've been in the Norwich Bulletion and The Groton Times for not only having talent but showing people that people with disabilies can acheve success. I started The Eric Crooks Show offically from 2006 until 2009 with Norwich Comcast Public Access. My influences other than my irreverent sense of humor of course are Jim Henson's Muppets (show clip from The Muppet Show or "If you don't buy us, we'll bite you in the leg"), Spitting Image, South Park, Dinosaurs (TV Show), Beavis & Butt-head, Classic Ren & Stimpy, Ed Edd N Eddy and even Looney Tunes. Around 2008 and early this year, I noticed new things about myself that were quite stressful. I started to realize how different I was from the world and society that I lived in. Not only my intersts, my humor, My Asperger's, but also my gender identify. I was very frightened when I noticed the fact that most men are masculine and were attracted to Feminine Women which I discovered that I am Trigender Non-Binary Transgendered meaning that I feel Androgynous. I feel that I have a Masculine side, A Feminine Side and a mixed side, plus I liked Masculine Tomboys and not Pretty Women. I've been an admirer of the uncensored self-written satires of Matt Groening's Life In Hell and Robert Crumb's Satirical Work. What they did was they took there stressful life and the way they saw life and shouted out thier opinions and points of view using their creative talents and sense of humor. Lots of people think when you write satire, you are a bully who wants to be mean and make unnessasary things a joke. Which is politically innacurate, it's the other way around. Satirists are the superheros that make fun of the bullies who deserve it and show that the innocent needs to have more respect but in a comical sense. Sometimes, It can lead to controversy but as long as you stand by your word, things should go your way. Around the begaining of Season 3, my show started to relate more to me. It showed that gender differences should be shown with more respect and even I needed to laugh at myself. Unfortunatly in March, I did a satirical roast pointing fun of myself being Androgynous and having Asperger's in a very negitive sense. It shocked a lot of viewers and Someone called up the public access station telling them that I was sucicidal which wasn't true, it was only a joke making fun of the depression of Asperger's. The cops went to check on me, my parents questioned me and I had to even explain it to my therapist, it was only a joke. If any truth about my depression, it's this. I live a rough life being different. My intersts, My Asperger's and my Gender. The only thing that keeps me standing is my sense of humor. And when people laugh at my jokes, I feel that maybe they can relate to the satirical joke in some way. When people don't, I just feel like a depressed outcast again.

Yes, I know, lots of spelling errors but I'll be just recording the script for myself so it won't matter as much

Just in case if I confused some people, I'll be talking as well as making a short documentry film on myself (script above)

Hey congratulations!

I don't know you but I am very proud of you for having the courage to speak your mind and to passionately pursue and follow your interests. Keep us updated on how it goes!

By the way, one of my favorite comedians of all time is Norm MacDonald. I know that doesn't quite relate to what you posted, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. 8)

This looks great and congrats on your opportunity.

What I tell people is that AS is ONE FORM of high functioning autism, because there is HFA separate from AS.

Don't take life so seriously. It isn't permanent!

Good on you for doing this. As AS gets discussed more, misunderstanding and fear will perhaps dissipate.

I would note that I have social deficits but I am not shy, which is the case with numerous other autists, so perhaps you might want to amend that part of your description of AS. As perhaps you learned from your satirical roast, we need to be sensitive to exaggerations and caricatures of AS in public presentations, so I would prefer that you say that we often miss social cues, rather than that we are socially "blind". If you don't want to alarm the public once again, you might also want to refrain from saying that you "feel like a depressed outcast" - why not just say that it "hurts"?

In general, I think your presentation will be very interesting to many.

That is so cool, at twice your age I don't have half of intestinal fortitude.

Hopefully they can give you a copy to post on YouTube.
