Ok, so I saw this movie recently, and there's a person in it with autism, Kazan is his name.

I think the actor did a remarkable job of portraying a moderately severe individual with autism, as did my mother; apart from his speech being worst (well, not really, as I wouldn't be talking in his position, whereas he uses echolalia often), he's pretty much dead on in regards to how I am in motor mannerisms and physical appearance.

Can anyone else relate to this individual? AS, AD or otherwise?

What's the name of the movie? Was it a TV movie or in the theater?

Duh, sorry. Scratch the above. Haven't seen Cube but would like to.

The movie itself is fairly decent.

The usual, not everything is as it seems and first appears, being a big theme.

Personally, I thought Kazan was far too similar to Rainman, but maybe that's just me.

Well yeah, it's based on a similar type/manifestation of autism. This type and its more severe forms are just as common as AS in prevalence. (Not many have the special abilities, but you know how Hollywood needs near-mythical superpowers from its characters.)

I'm not sure if he could count as having classical autism. That is because the third film suggests that Kazan is Eric, a main character from Cube Zero.

Eric was a genius or prodigy, then lobotomised which lead to the same sort of behaviour that Kazan displays in the first film. The last scenes of Cube Zero in which a group in the Cube meets the lobotomised Eric mimics the scene of the group meeting Kazan in Cube.

From his behaviour, he still has autism, and he was written that way (the latter movies are written and directed by different people).

You can't make someone autistic via a lobotomy.

So you mean Kazan is autistic if Cube is considered to be a standalone? I guess that allows another interpretation of the character and performance then, yes.
