I have soooo much trouble keeping track of time! I'm late a lot, and I take way longer to get things done than other people. And I try so hard! I even bought a watch that beeps every hour to help me not get lost in whatever I'm doing. I try extra hard to be speedy, and I still end up being slower than other people. My boss gives me dirty looks and I feel like crap. :( And he brags about never owning a watch and never being late.

I suggest keeping a constant schedule every day. It will minimize your stress as well as helping you get a better sense of time.

If suggesting this makes me a weirdo, then that's fine. I used to think all people with AS stuck to rigid schedules, and apparently it made me look weird when I asked one about her schedule. :|

If I'm absorbed in something (99% of my time), or if I'm too stressed out, I'm horrible at keeping track of time. If I'm doing something I hate, I can't wait to get over it and think of the time constantly (waiting until I get over with it), so it's easier.

Ah yes. Time seems like such a strange concept to me. I can't keep track of it at all or I obsess over every minute. The past, present, and future all seem to exist at the same time and intermingle. But, if I have to be somewhere at a certain time I manage to get there on time, it may be the wrong day however. :D

I have no sense of time whatsoever, I'm late to everything 99% of the time even when I do try really hard to be there on time.
Nearly every appointment I have I end up having to ring up to say I'm gonna be late - For example say I have an appointment somewhere for 1pm I'll end up getting there more like 3pm
And it isnt just appointments, it's everything I do even things I enjoy doing I sometimes miss out on cos I just cant seem to get there on time
Also it seems to take me longer than others to do things

Noa x

Not me. I always keep track of time, I'm never late for anything, and I can usually guess what time it is to within 15 minutes or so.

My internal clock isn't right even twice a day. If I'm doing something, and need to leave at a certain time, I'll look at the clock and see there's 2 hours to go. Then I'll remember to look again, and it'll only be 5 minutes later. And then again, 5 minutes more. And then the next time I look it's over an hour later and I'm getting late. I use a PDA to give me lots of reminders, nowadays.

One weird exception though is I seem to be able to program myself to wake up at a certain time.

I can't answer the question, because I'm both. I don't feel like I exist in real-time. And my friends have confirmed it.

But when I re-enter the world of time, I usually know exactly what time it is, within 15 minutes. But I feel like a visitor to clock time land.

I have a poor sense of time, which is why I always leave very, very early for things. And wear a watch.

oh yeah tell me about it!
I have big clocks visible in every single room of my home because when I need to go somewhere and keep an important time. I have to constantly see what the time is so I wont be late. I sooooo easily loose focus! But I usually end up late anyway, It doesnt matter what time of the day it is and how far in advance I was notified, Im still bloody late!! !

My life passes on in pure slow motion. Its very annoying, I cant be fast :( and when Im late I need to speed up, uuuuuuh

I'm not sure how to answer this as for me it's a yes, and a no. I'm not ever late to appts. As a matter of fact, being late for stuff, and things not going according to the predetermined plan in my head is probably 2nd on my list of things that cause meltdowns.

However, one appt. can take me all day to plan, and prepare for. I am much, much slower at getting things done than others. I think this has to do with multitasking. My husband once commented that I get everything done everyday that needs to be done, but it takes me all day to do it, where as it would take most people a few hours to do the same tasks, because I don't multitask.

Not being able to judge the amount of time that has passed, from what I've read, is an NLD trait. Amazingly, one of the very few that I don't seem to possess. I've noticed that dyslexics also have trouble with this, but in a different way. They'll get the info all mixed up, and show up on the 8th at 10:00 (for example) when the appt was the 10th at 8:00. Or, if I tell my husband to be here at a quarter to 9, he'll show up at a quarter after 9. He also can't seem to judge how long things will take, and is late constantly because he tried to fit 2 hours worth of errands, and tasks into a one hour time frame. He never remembers to calculate time for driving, waiting in line, ect..
