Well, my 1 millionth thread heh.

I have symptoms of social phobia, self conscious, overaware, too much thinking.

I wonder which medicines work for you, for a long time and remove or alleviate some of the symptoms above????

I've tried GABA, suntheanine, 5-HTP, magnesium. Anti depressants, nothing changed, no withdrawal either, suggesting no real effect was created. Tis strange.

I have not tried benzos, but I'm considering micro-dosing, so has anyone tried much smaller than recommended doses.

I have used benzo before,
Valium (diazepam)
it's really good, i really like it. but it's for short term only as it is addictive.

I'm now on Seroquel (Quetiapine), it's a anti-psychotic, it calms me down a lot in terms of anxiety and over-thinking.

I probably have the same overawareness and too much thinking that you described. I'm not ADHD (my little brother is though), but diagnosed AS and generalized anxiety disorder. My mind is always going 100 miles per hour. I've had trouble in the past with chronic headaches, and we think it may be because I just think myself into them. Anyways...

I take prozac daily, and it helps me calm down my thinking a bit. I really like it because it doesn't have side affects (for me) or bother me in any way, but it does make me feel sort of apathetic at certain doses. (That can be a good thing if you're moody.) I've used valium, xanax, and other temporary stuff like that but I really don't like how they make me feel. Mostly they just make me sleepy. If I was trying to calm down, I would rather just take a promethazine/phenergan (anti-nausea drug with sedating effects). I have some ritalin, but of course that doesn't have a calming effect unless you are ADD. If you think you may be ADHD, it could be worth giving a try. I was prescribed it for fatigue...it has no impact on my thought processes, but it makes me move around a lot. When I take it I usually complete a lot of homework and do a lot of cleaning

Abilify maybe? Never taken it personally, but I think it's indicated for that sort of thing.

Depakote (for my mania and OCD--helps me generally with AS, also)

I have not tried stimulants or atomoxetine yet. I tried alcohol but not much point really. Never tried smoking. Never tried cannnabis. All I've tried is citalopram and fluoxetine SSRI's with zero effects and no effect on stopping.

Risperdal, Zyprexia, and Geodon all made me feel like my brain was swimming through molasses, so that maybe could slow down racing thoughts. OTOH, they are neuroleptics which I don't like in terms of potential side effects (and what I gather are regular effects), and other reasons. If I had a bad need to slow my brain down, though, maybe, as a last resort.
