that "Star Wars" is known by parents the "official film of AS"! Because, it is the most popular film with kids with AS (I read this in two books). I sure liked the trilogy when I was younger, not so much now though, but there still great.

But it never explored - why exactly is it the AS kid's fave film? I thought it was because that people with AS like things with lots of detail and things to notice. And there are hundreds of different characters, aliens, things to learn the names of. It is a very big fantasy world. And also the main character Darth Vader never shows his face or emotions - he always wears a helmet, could that have something to do with AS?

But I wonder if those books are now dated, and whether it is still the AS number 1 movie, or has it now been replaced by something newer and more popular? Maybe Lord of the Rings or something completely different? What do you think?

I never really liked Star Wars. It was always too complicated.

I never had any of the action figures (didn't play w/ action figures), but I can remember watching the first three films when ever they were on TV. One evening in June 1986 I was over at the house of a friend of my mom, and her son and I watched the empire strikes back twice in sucsession.

I have a limited scope of films that I like, and the first three star wars are up there in the top of the heap.

I liked Star Wars, but didn't get into it that much. Around the age of twelve I got obsessed with Bladerunner, which also has lots of little details to notice, and very obvious (but dark and ambiguous) links to AS.
But that's only a slightly more recent movie than Star Wars.

I like both Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. You might say i look to the past as well as the future.

Yeah if I had to chose newer movies, I'd have to go with Lord of the Rings for certain, not really Harry Potter, but liked The Princess Bride, never really figured that one out. Definitely love the Monty Python movies. :)

Star Trek - The Voyage Home seems a likely candidate for the "official AS film", too [and it's a fun movie]; Spock has some very Rain Man-like moments there. And Star Trek in general - with characters like Spock, Data, Reginald Barclay, Odo, Seven of Nine and Voyager's Doctor, Aspies have a lot of people to identify with.
