Hey, remember this? Apparently some other people have done something similar. (Referring to that DJ who runs an internet radio station from an abandoned missile silo pumping out anime & game music-anyone remember that thread? who was he again?)

I remember seeing some people living in old missilie silos on popular mechanics for kids (few years ago). It's extremely safe and it would be cool to live underground :D

It's certainly a good place to be in case of a nuclear war. :D It's built to resist that.

Sounds cool, but there were never nuclear missile silos in my country. However, in a neighboring country there is a practice of using old German-built bunkers for living space.

If I had the money I'd buy one that has a control center converted into a house. I read about one in upstate New York that was up for sale in 2002 for 2.1 million dollars. It's in Adirondack Park. It was auctioned on Ebay.
The silo that once contained a 81 foot long missile, was all sludgy and gross, full of water that settled in the bottom of the well until the real estate developer who bought it pumped it out. I wonder if the build up of sludge is a continuous problem or have they fixed that? If I had the money I would invest in all kinds of strange real estate all across the country. I would open my own real estate office that specializes in the bizarre.
I love the idea of living in a missile silo and climbing the spiral staircases several times a day. It's a good workout.
My biggest challenge would be convincing potential buyers they are safe and won't be easy targets if a future nuclear assault looms, aren't contaminated by industrial waste and are completely safe to live in.
