It is a paid trip to Israel for young Jews to learn about and strengthen Jewish identity.

I also didn't know there were Birthright tours for people on the spectrum.
When is the trip? During Sukkot (Feast of Booths/ Feast of Tabernacles) or afterwards?

The write of birth topic

I am relieved your trip is not sponsored by some wingnut fundamentalist group. :)

Safe journey. I have always wanted to see Israel, specifically Yad VaShem.

Ravenclawgurl,

That is so exciting! I know several people who've been on Birthright trips, but none who've been on that one. Please post about it when you get back!

I'll keep my opinion of the idea of "Birthright" trips to Israel to myself, but congratulations on getting to go. It's a neat place. Culturally very different from the Americas and Western Europe.

I was raised Christian but I'm Jewish through my mother's bloodline. Does that mean I might qualify for a birthright trip? Or do you have to be a young person?

It's only for ages 18-26, and they say you can't be currently practicing a different religion.

OK, I'm out then. I thought I would be. It didn't hurt to try and ask though :)

I have Jewish ancestors on my mother's father's side, but quite distant. I have always been fascinated by Israel, though, and always wanted to visit, but I suspect that Iran will nuke the place off the map before I get the chance. However, it's not someplace I'd want to LIVE if I were a Jew, based on Greentea's descriptions, it is very expensive and nearly as hostile to aspies as the US, except among the ultraorthodox, and they have other issues.
