Googled it, and it seems to mean "political correctness"... and upon thinking about it, I must agree... in my area, people don't question anyone about anything, or mention anything different about anybody... they don't openly talk about holidays as much as it used to be, or don't guess anything about a person because somebody "might" get offended.
On a personal level, I haven't run into the problem so much-I might get a dirty look here and there for stating something, or someone sometimes hushes me while I'm talking, but nothing super extreme.
I think what they mean is that, or how I feel about it, political correctness has branched from just "the golden rule" basically, into "you can't say this kid has autism because so and so might get offended", and "you can't say the color of this person's skin without knowing what their background is because they might get upset", stuff like that.
I've never MET anyone that extreme, but I've seen it. My son's holiday parties are insanely strict, and they can't even call it a party for the holiday that is coming up... it is a random, unnamed party, in which they can dress up if they choose to and bring snacks, and don't forget that each parent needs to send $5 for snacks and such for it... but they will not actually call it a HALLOWEEN party, because 10 parents are ready to scream and get the teacher fired for allowing the kids to have it to begin with.
I never understood stuff like that... why can't the parents of those kids who they don't want participating each chip in a few bucks and throw a pizza party for those kids rather than shutting down the party altogether for all of them and raising a stink about it.
It's just a matter of... we just have way too many people just waiting to be offended by something just so they can go scream about something else, lol.
So it's kind of gone from "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"... and turned into, well, stupidity, lol. In my area at least.
Does that help explain anything at all?
