I just got this thing my son gave me as he walked into the door, for a concert that is supposed to happen tomorrow night... gee, thanks for the advance notice, people. On the flyer, it says:

5:30-6:30 Walking tacos, drinks, and snacks available for purchase**

What the heck is a walking taco????

A walking taco is something like a cross between a taco and a rollup sandwich. The ends are sealed so you can walk around while eating it without all the stuff falling out.

So.. like a soft taco? Or is it still hard?

No idea what a walking taco is, but I sure want one!

As for hating the wording of things, for me that's just part of being born into a family of writers and editors.

I am pretty sure that they mean that it is a taco that you can carry around without a plate. It might be a soft or hard taco. It is probably served wrapped in a serviette or little bag so that you can walk around with it easily and eat it without having a table, plate and utensils.

Incidentally, the best taco I had was from a small stand in Tiajana, Mexico. It has chopped meat, onions, cilantro and some medium spiced salsa. It was served in a small soft taco shell. I got three for a dollar. No, I didn't get sick. Yes, I bought more than three!! :pig:

Oh thank you guys so much! haha, I was soooo confused by that, as I've never heard of one before.

Kiddos will probably go with the "snacks" since those are easier to see what is what, lol, but I might get brave and give this walking taco a shot.

I should get one, then complain that it doesn't move around nearly enough to be considered "walking" anywhere :P

i think they just mean that a vendor will just be walking around selling tacos, etc from a tray or a cart.

still, bad wording.

EDIT: well, SCREW me and my logic.
i did a websearch for 'walking tacos', and a million references came up to, basically, this: http://recipes.robbiehaf.com/T/262.htm

haha! No problem. I didn't know what those people were called, but I thought after a while maybe it was one of those people with the little baskets yelling "hot dogs! get your hot dogs!"... except selling tacos.

I'm not just bothered by poor spelling, poor grammar, and awkward phrasing (probably why I "fell into" proofreading and editing whilst in Chicago), but I even find certain words repulsive, and the sight and sound of some combinations of letters absolutely nauseating. No, really, I'm serious. :?

we called them 'frito pies' in the Midwest. Just take a snack bag of fritos and crunch it up then open it and spoon in the taco meat, salsa, lettuce, sour cream shredded cheese avocado what ever you want. . . serve with a napkin and a plastic fork and they can toss it all away, after.
