Have you ever run into problems trying to communicate with NT's and you get the impression that they don't want to put forth the effort to really listen or understand on what you are trying to get across? It's like there is this inertia or resistance that gets in the way.

Sure, but not just at work. Getting anything of value across is an uphill battle, perhaps not worth the effort given that it causes offense anyway, and I've found it much more productive to learn things for my own understanding than to explain things to other people. The only outward communication about sciencey things that interests me these days, is what I send to the patent office, and maybe a presentation or two per year. I must make a legal claim on anything I help to invent if I am to profit and survive at what I do.
