It annoys me. Makes those who have no one feel like crap. And if you have someone, you should be appreciating them every day of the year... why do you need a special day to do that?

It's not really relevant to my life, and it never has been.

I only like it for the seasonal candy - conversation hearts are GREAT.

Someone bought me expensive flowers once, and I thought to myself, "FOR THE LOVE OF PEACHES(my cat), WHY?!??" I understand its the thought that counts, but why spend money on something that a)dies b)you can pick in your yard c)if you're going to spend the money I'd rather have something else and d)at least buy a plant that I can put/grow in my non-exsistant garden, also e)the cheap pink ones at the grocery for $6 are plenty, if you must.

Valentine's Day is just another reminder that apparently, I'm not "good enough" to receive a man's love. I never got flowers (nor much else) from any man, not my father, not my step-father nor any of my exes. I even begged one of my then-boyfriends for them and he'd rather half-heartedly draw a flower on a sheet of notebook paper than go through the trouble. When I pointed out a man on TV giving his fiancee a lovely bouquet of pink roses, he finally said, "If you women weren't being such b****, maybe we would give you flowers."

I think Valentines Day is the root of all evil - for mostly the same reasons mentioned above - not to mention that this year it will be the 17th anniversary of the 1st time I ever attempted suicide . . . woo hoo!
Yeah, yeah, my best friend says that should make me happy that it didn't work . . . but it is still rather sad to remember being that upset for the first time . . .

AbominableSnoCone, meet my friend capitalism. Capitalism, AbominableSnoCone. 8)

I'm no one to talk though, I'm buying a girl a rectangular box of chocolates this V-day. The reason I specify that it's rectangular is that I don't wanna push it with a heart-shaped box since she's just a friend.

He sounds like a real class act. Seriously, screw him. There's nothing wrong with you (I think), there's something wrong with him if that's how he's gonna treat his own girlfriend. >=| Roses are somewhat expensive so I've never bought a bouquet of them, although I won a dozen roses in a poetry contest a few years ago.

...They never gave them to me, buncha gyps. Nonetheless, Valentine's Day 2004 was my best Valentine's Day ever. =)

[edit]: Oh, to answer the poll, I'm gonna say "no" because I've only not been single for one of them. :x

You should have made an option of "Don't Care". I would have chosen that one.

Hehe so it's not just me who sees no point!! !

If I don't get a card and i'm single then it doesn't bother me at all, it's just another day to me. If my boyfriend didn't bother though i'd be upset and dump his as* .

I'll vote "like it a bit" but i would have preferred a "don't care" option too.

I don't mind Valentine's Day. It's interesting to watch the people around me celebrating their friendships and romances; and I have a real sweet tooth, so after-Valentine's-Day candy sales are much appreciated. I don't really like the way that my single friends are usually depressed on that day, though; I wish I could do something to help them.

my vote is, not quite sure. i used to get stuffed animals from boys and sure i like stuffed animals but i dont really see a good reason for it. i see it as basically a couple of things. 1. if you have a boy/girlfriend then you can rub it in other people's faces good for you 2. if you don't have a boy/girlfriend, people expect you to be sad, like i care, 3. if you really have such low confidence that you think that having a boy/girlfriend for valentines day so that you can show him/her off, then you know what? that's your problem. i don't really care, i mean, i'd rather have someone that i actually care about any day than just some guy who only gives me presents on valentines day. anyways i'm outa here.

I never have liked Valentine's Day. Like many others here it makes me feel alone, something I try not to think about normally.
