Does anyone remember that old toy where the penguins went up the escalator, and down the slide, and everything worked in unison, seemingly forever (or at least the batteries dies)? I ask because I always wanted one as a child (my sitter and many playdates [never friends] had one) and just recently I purchased one from a novelty store. I love it. They go up the slide, and back down again, and so on, without suffering the effects of entropy. Though I suppose that's where the battery comes in.

Anyway, tonight, my penguins stopped mid-slide. Had to tap them with my finger. Seems there is chaos in the system after all. It bothers me.

I suppose that's not the point. Who else remembers/ has taken comfort in this toy?
