I am on the high end of the autistic spectrum, as is everyone I know known to have AS. I was talking to an older friend with AS, who has experiences with other Aspies. We were talking about our shared condition, and I brought up sensory overload problems. I remember it was never a problem for me, except as a small child. My friend told me that some on the spectrum have it so badly that they can only communicate electronically.

I was shocked learning this at first, but it makes perfect sense, really. I figured this forum may have some people like that, and that these people may want to share their stories. Does anyone here have such a stimulation problem, or knows of someone with that problem?

I'm not sure if it's because of sensory issues, because I thought it was more about trouble properly "connecting" verbal communication, but I know that there are some people here who can't communicate very well in "real life."

(I don't think the "WrongPlanet.net discussion" section was the best place to put this thread, 'cause this section is more just for talking about WrongPlanet, shouldn't it maybe be in the "General" section? A lot of people don't even check the "WrongPlanet.net discussion" section. And, um, if a mod does decide to move the topic, feel free to remove my comment saying that it's the wrong section, cause this part of my response would look kinda silly in the "General" section. :P )

Very true Maggiedoll. Moved. I actually meant to move it earlier, but didn't have time - to decide where to move it. :)

a person told me to come to thsi thread, thanks you know who hehe, i have such bad sensory problems it does affect my talking, it affects a lot of my issues, sleeping, eating, even at times walking. for me there is so much overstimuli i cant handle with sensory that i cant get a word out otherwise, feels like i cant catch my breath like im choking or under water, and i cant speak doesnt matter where i am, happens all the time, thankfully acai juice seems to be making a difference. but anywasy back tp sensory, i think sensory can ruin ur life for me it def controls a big part of me.
