I was listening to a Radiohead song called "Scatterbrain," and coincidentally it caused me to think about being scatterbrained. I'm not very scatterbrained, but I soupçonne that many of you here are. Do you forget where you put your keys, not remember what you said five seconds ago, show up to class or at work at the wrong time or even day, and constantly seem to be thinking about something other than what is happening around you?

Yep, for sure. As a quick example, my customers at work. I'll place them on hold to do something, then get distracted by someones conversation, or a puzzle I was working on and forget to do what I meant to do when I placed them on hold. I could give all sorts of other examples for at home, etc.

Absolutely, particularly if I am feeling stressed. I'm not sure this is an aspie thing, though; more like a human thing. There are lots of things that make us scatterbrained at times, like low-blood sugar, stress, or just plain pre-occupation with something else. I would be NT's would post the same things we would here.

The more things that are going on around me, the more scatterbrained I get.

I am on the odd occasion especially when I'm juggling with many tasks at once. I remember, when I was 15, I went to the shop for some ice cream and was with a friend. We had a serious arguement and she stormed off and because I was so angry, I wasnt focusing on anything and I ended up putting the tub of ice cream I'd just bought into the shoe cupboard and then I took my shoes off and put them into the freezer (Ive never done anything like this again). I realised half an hour later what I'd done when I came to get my ice cream.

Good thing you didn't try to wear the ice cream. ;)

Definitly,it's actually kind of frightening sometimes.I'll be doing something, and i'll remember something else and i'm off but then...You get the picture.Usualy everything only gets half done.Or I pick something up to stim with, like a pen and then leave it somewhere compleatly different.Such are the wonders of being ADD/aspie.
