How often do you talk about your special interests with others? I think everyone who's ever talked to me knows mine, heh. I know people with AS are often known to tell everyone everything about their special interests, and I'm wondering if that's actually true for most people.

Friend/Family. Yeah I bring it up all the time. I've got no shame. Some of my special interests are socially acceptable (photography, music, Jack Kerouac, political stuff) and some not so for my age group and circle of friends (Ben 10, fantasy, some 'secret shame' musicians, astronomy).

I don't really talk about it, but most of the people I know have a sense for my special interests. A lot of times my special interests become productive and I talk about them alot, spend countless hours on them, and more often than not never finish them. I did finish one though, was a website, and hit up 70k hits/day for awhile. I wasn't impressed, but many of whom I told about it were rather impressed.

Alot of my friends label me as one who "starts projects but doesn't finish anything".

It's hard to hide them for me. I mean, when you spend 80 hours a week on something it tends to get noticed by people. My brother and I are pretty close so he knows, and since he knows, and all his friends are my friends, they usually know as well.

I'm not embarassed by it though. It's just me being me.

My special interests very from month to month though.

I ticked noone, its private. I have learned to keep silent about whats important to me, but when I was young I tend to spread my special interests everywhere....

Today its only ONE person who knows, its my husband. He knows it in a way nobody else can but he really dont know any details
I dont want my family to find out, its too private for that, its better they dont know
My dad visited me the other day and he got to see some stuff around and he might get a sense whats up in my brain at the moment....
I have mention briefly to my mum but there ends the line completely. I know I only get vurneable the more I tell

Although I would soooo much LOVE to share my special interest with others who have the same interest but thats another story

I have to resist talking about my favorite special interest because it bores most people to tears. I get excited about solving (or working around) certain graphical problems while using visual effects software and I can talk about it for hours. But just about everyone knows what I do because it gets around.

I do obsses over the news and watch/read/listen to any news that I can everyday. People don't seem to mind talking about recent news that they are familiar with.

(I voted! :!: )

Some I can talk about with anyone, but others such as the Simpsons, South Park, and the sexual stuff I mention, I can't even think of mentioning in front of Christians (even though I am a Christian myself).

Christians don't like The Simpsons?

Immediate family, friends, husband. I think everyone here knows about mine lol. I don't talk about mine much to people except to certain people.

Since it's art, and I went to art school, and all my friends are artists... yeah, pretty much everyone knows. I hate talking about it though.

Some, only if it comes up in conversation so as to try and keep the conversation going, but then I ramble on too long and people get bored or annoyed.

Like I was pulled aside by my churches worship ministry manager(I'm the youth ministry audio manager) and he chewed me about why do I need to barrow a subwoofer from the churches worship room(we play contemporary rock music) because the youth room has "Powered Speakers". That means nothing and I told him that the speakers I use are not designed for that much bass and can be potentially broken because of that.

Woops, there I go... :(

I try to not bring up my special interests constantly to everyone, but a lot of the time something just makes me think of it so much that i can't resist talking about it. Sometimes it's like that even with past special interests if people around me are right on that topic, then i just feel this huge need to inform everyone with what i know about it... ESPECIALLY if i overhear someone getting something wrong. So, yeah. Most people who are around me much at all end up knowing about my special interests. I think that pretty much everyone where i work who i ever talk to knows about my interest in reptiles. My family, and anyone who has known me at all for a significant length of time, probably know about most of my past special interests aswell.

I'm fairly quiet about my interests and really have only told some close friends. I have made passing references to some strangers (at the moment I'm fairly obsessed with Jethro Tull :P ) but I don't make a big deal of them. I'm fairly quiet about myself usually.
