Now I used to be affected by aspergers syndrome anymore. I progressed so idc. Now I used to be kindve "open" bout it. But people treated me a little bit differently not because I was socially awkward or anything, NOOOOO just because I have it. So I figured if it doesn't affect me to the extend that people don't have the slightest idea that I have it (which is how it is), why tell in the first place? So I will only tell close friends/ppl i trust. So today in my sister's history class the subject was brought up. My sister (only 1 grade under me) told that I have aspergers syndrome. Big no no. Why? Even though she didn't use my name, I know a lot of ppl in her grade (damn freshmen) and so does she. So as you all know, stuff goes around high schools fast. The big problem is that when it comes back to me, it's not AS that they think I have, it's full on autism!

I think that people think too extreme. Like that they don't know there are like different degrees and types of autism, and AS is only one of them. Usually people only think, like about someone who can't talk or communicate.

I say, 'AS is in the autistic spectrum, so it is consider autism' or something like that. The reply 'have you ever seen a person with autism at all!'

I think that they want to have some kind of excuse for treating you differently.

I had someone tell me to "don't label yourself and Psychologists are a big mess to deal with."

He's a youth pastor. :D

That's why I despise the movie Rain Man. Too many people associate autism as being like Rain Man. Part of the problem is that you're in high school. Kids are a lot more immature in high school. People in college are grown up, unless it's community college.
