I've always called what I do with music 'Looping'. Music for me is more than just hearing. It surrounds me and fills me up. Explodes out of me like a wave. It makes things move. I see the music in my head and feel strong emotions at certain parts. When I hear a piece of music or a song I get absorbed in I listen to it over and over for hours. I just put it on repeat and am perfectly happy. Does anyone else do this?

My most recent songs are Basshunters 'All I ever Wanted', 'DOTA', and Portal 'Still Alive'.

I can listen to these songs over and over and feel the same emotions at the same parts and it's the same every time. When I loop I know the whole day is going to be gone. But when the music is in my head I have to listen to it. It's like I'm in another world.

Looping!

"This was a triumph. I'm making a note here, HUGE SUCCESS. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Aperture science..."

I've never defined it but I also do something like what you describe. For the past few weeks I've been doing it with one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life: Carl Sagan - 'A Glorious Dawn' ft Stephen Hawking

I love your song choices. I've been listening to a lot of Basshunter recently and DotA is one of my favourites. Have you heard his new album?

And also have you heard Victims of Science - The Device Has Been Modified? It's Portal related and I think it's really cool.

Edit: I'm ashamed to have forgotten to mention this song, which I also can and do listen to on infinite repeat and it takes me through so many emotions every single time. From Doctor Who: This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home

I love your picture with the cat with multicolored eyes! One of my friends sent me the Carl Sagan song a couple weeks ago but thank you for reminding me it exists. I'm listening to it right now. I love watching documentaries about the universe, it's so massive it sucks me in.

No I haven't heard his new album but I'll look it up now. And Yes i've heard The Device has been modified a very great machinima artist created a video for it (Baron Soosdan):

OMG. I just noticed you linked a song about Dr. Who. My ultimate FAVORITE all time sci-fi show. I have dreams about that. Imagining myself traveling through time in the Tardis! Ok I'm off topic. But... there is a video of Mr. Bean playing Dr. Who (most have been removed due to copyright violations) but if you can find it it's freaking hilarious. So keep listening!

Looping FTW.

Thanks, the cat is mine and I borrowed his name and picture to use for this site.

I agree about the universe, it's so fascinatingly mind-boggling.

If you're referring to The Curse of the Fatal Death, then I've seen it and I love it! And now you've mentioned Mr Bean I've got to go watch some!

But first, just to stay on topic a bit, another song I've "looped" to, with the added difference that with this one I watch the video over and over: The Guild - Do You Wanna Date My Avatar

Oddly enough I JUST started looping a new song. I thought it was just me

(I play piano and go from playing said song back to listening to and from dozens of times a day)

Seems to happen every few weeks that I find a new song that I like. Not really the lyrics that get me but really catchy melodies.

Xanovaria please tell us which song! I can relate as I can hear the same song hundreds of times and still never remember the lyrics or who sang it.

SamwiseGamgee I LOVE YOU! I actually got to meet Felicia Day at Blizzcon this year and it was so awesome! This song is crazy for looping. My brother and I waited for 2 hours so we could be first in line to meet them all. I was so nervous I had to listen to music just to calm me down.

Many hours of happiness! Smile face inevitable: :).

Music is also the drug of my choice.

Same here. I bought an iPod a few months ago and began looping collections immediately, but a couple of weeks ago I began doing that with single artists and two specific songs. But even in the days of vinyl records and cassette tapes, I had been doing that manually for years.

No offense but basshunter is really subpar electronic music(dance?).

Try some Goa Trance if you want to loop, it will make you feel out of this world!

Yep, I get into my own 'dimension'/world and enjoy this' high' too.

I've burned just small parts of songs and listened to these 'few seconds' for hours at a time.

Yes, I have to admit music can be a drug for me also. When I listen to my walkman or even music on the computer I tend to get relaxed, my mind opens up and my body sometimes goes crazy. I like my music, especially when I'm listening to songs that I like a lot.

Music is my drug as well and I constantly do looping. Pink Floyd is the main one that goes through this.

I generally pick one album and loop it. I skip certain songs though sometimes. Theres always that one track thats out of place and doesn't get played. Before I had an MP3 player the CD that was in my car for about 2 years straight was Alice in Chains - unplugged (until someone stole my cd player and took the CD with 'em, grrrr)

When I was in middle school on the bus it was metallica, metallica, metallica. Everybody in the world knew my obsession with metallica.

The past 3-6 months have been symphony x - oddysey.

Generally speaking, I pick an album, listen to that album and only that album for days, weeks, or months, then switch to something else. Often go back to previously looped albums.

My brother is big into music and often goes on and on about multitudes of different bands and such. When that conversation starts I feel more or less like a dumb rock with nothing to say. Talking about preferred music is one of the hardest topics for me to get involved in, unless the other person is into the same music. Unfortunately my music choice isn't popular.

At one point I had iTunes hooked up to some website which would track my music selection to find other bands to listen to. I never used the feature, but it still tracked my music. I was the #1 melvins fan by a large margin. I guess there was a time period where it was nothing but melvins for months on end.

I find it hard to get into new music as well. My friends find a new band and tell me about it saying this and that and blah blah blah. Could be great music, but compared to the FotM album being looped its nothing!
