Hi folks:
I'm hoping, now that the quarter is over and I've had a chance to debug my program, that folks will be willing to help me by participating in a short (less than 10 minutes) anonymous study so I can complete a project for a class. If you're willing to participate, please go to:
http://edu218final.appspot.com/

Thanks for your help.
Oh - and if you run into any problems, please email/message me privately (on wrongplanet). I don't want to discuss the particular sections of the study on the forum. Thanks.

EDIT: In order to avoid confounds, PLEASE do not discuss ANY section of the study here. If you have questions or comments about it, you can PM me. But please - it's important that people not have pre-knowledge of the study.

If you have posted comments about the study, please remove any information regarding the specific sections, tasks, etc. Thank you.

If you are considering taking the study, please take it BEFORE reading any comments here so I can get a good sampling. Thanks everyone!

I'll definitely post about the results once I'm done.

Because your instructions for the "several phrases" test said to press the enter key after each phrase I pressed it after I tapped in my first phrase, and that was it; I was sent on to the next exercise! No chance to put more of my phrases.

The rest of it was clear enough, but I'm afraid that my result for that part of the test will be void and null!

Thanks for letting me know. Just to debug - did you click the NEXT button on the app, or the RETURN/ENTER key on your keyboard? If you clicked the "NEXT" button, how would you phrase it to distinguish between that and the RETURN/ENTER key on your keyboard? Thanks.

I think I pressed the NEXT button, now you specify the two options like that.

It simply didn't occur to me that your instructions would bother to tell me to press enter after each phrase simply so that each phrase would be on separate lines. But it has occcurred to me now. I thought that what the instructions meant were that each phrase I came up with had to have an entirely fresh "box".

I think it would have been clearer if the instructions had said to begin each new phrase on a new line, without even mentioning the ENTER button.

Okay. Some keyboards call the "return" key the "enter" key, so that's why I had that listed. I'll try to clarify. Thanks.

I took it. [edited for a spoiler, sorry!]
Just FYI: I said my diagnosis was PDD (rather than PDD-NOS) because that's what it was. It was a while ago so the NOS might not have been standard yet I guess.

Thanks for making this. I just took it, and encountered no problems. I look forward to hearing your research and conclusion.

Completed.
I don't suppose we'll have the opportunity to see the results of your study (as in, access to your paper)?
I'm curious to know and you'd probably get some interesting feedback on here.

I tried, but I ruined it after the first "equivalent phrase" response - I went and clicked the "next" button instead of hitting "enter." The back button didn't help (wasn't supposed to use it anyway), and the instructions say not to try taking the test again. I suppose I could have continued to the end of the test, and just accept that the screwed-up section was screwed up, but being a perfectionist I tried to put my error right. Sorry!

It's okay. We'll have a few of those. Thanks for trying it anyway.

I can post the results here - it's not going to be a "published paper", just a paper for class. But I'll gladly let you know what I found.

I know it's not anything fancy but it'd be interesting to see how the tests and questionairre go together, and what the outcome of your research is. :)

I started the test but didn't have the motivation to complete it. I don't enjoy trying to memorize words.

I didn't enjoy the tests particularly, either. I just figured that the point isnt' to find out if people on the spectrum like the tests --- it's the results they are looking at.

Though, it would be interesting to note in the paper some of the practical issues that seem to be happening -- confusion over the instructions and whatnot. I wonder if as many people off the spectrum would find that confusing, too.
