Today I was coming out of a small shop when a car that was driving past blasted his horn a few times as he drove past. I looked at the driver of the car to see if he was waving to anyone but he wasn't, he was just looking ahead rather relaxed, and there weren't really anybody else walking in the street at the time. There was no other cars on the road at the time either, so he wasn't tooting at any other cars. Also there were no hazards that made him warn other road-users that he was coming; it was just a straight, clear road.
So it was obvious that he just wanted to blast his horn for no reason. Why do some car drivers do this randomly? I suffer with my nerves and so I am jumpy at sudden loud ''sharp'' noises such as sudden blasts from car horns. If he was tooting for a reason, I'd still jump but then I'll see the reason and try to pass it off. But this time there didn't seem to be a reason. I was with my boyfriend and out of frustration I yelled, ''ohh, why do people like making me jump?! !'' Not that I'm accusing the driver of making me jump, but it still feels like people do things like that for the purpose of making pedestrians jump.
