Ass-burgers. Someone called it that and I got mad at them and they laughed.
Ugh. I've seen it way too many times. Also "ass-purgers" and ass-pie. I really hate those people, they need to like go die. I mean what is they're problem?
Why are so many people so ignorant about aspergers and autism? And they make crappy jokes about it and think it's funny.
Like one guy commented on a YouTube video and pointed out how the guy talked like a [edited for content by sinsboldly] and asked if he was autistic.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought I was going to find a link to my fanfiction story  Then I was disappointed.

PS I also use the words "asspie" and "Assburgers" to describe jerks with Asperger's. Lot of my aspie friends find that funny. Well you can hate me too for this.

At least partly because it has only been recognized at all for less than 50 years.

Ego and ignorance can lead to fear and pride. Some people are afraid of something they do not understand, then they belittle other people to try to cover that up.

I wish they made a Beavis and Butthead episode about Asperger's. You know how that would go:

Some guy: I have Asperger's.
Butthead: Hey Beavis! Did you hear what he said?
Beavis: Yeah, what?
Butthead: He said ass burgers! Uhuhuhuh!
Beavis: Ehehehehe would ya like some fries to go with your ass burgers? Ehehehe
Butthead: Uhuhuhuhuhuhuh! Ass burgers!
Beavis: Ehehehehehehe!

And it would go on forever with them two laughing... :D

I find mispellings of Aspergers hilarious. I once thought it was genuinely called Assburgers, but I was 11 and more concerned with pop music than diagnoses.

My psychology teacher said it like that. He said, "Can you imagine having a disorder that's called ass-burgers? Hi, I have ass-burgers!" To which everyone in the class burst into laughter. I guess I was being too sensitive with getting annoyed by that, but I didn't think it was an appropriate thing to say to a class where almost no one had heard of Asperger's before.

I've actually heard most people pronounce it "Ass Burgers", even if they spell it correctly.

The day I was diagnosed I walked up to a close friend, threw my hands up in the air in joy, and said, "I was just diagnosed with Aspergers!! !!"

To which he replied, "HA! Ass burgers." I think I punched him. Now I typically just say high-functioning autism or euro it up and pronounce it "Ahs-per-jers." I know I sound pretentious saying it like that, but I prefer it to ass burgers.

Ass Burgers is nothing more than an innocent joke, as long as the notion of it being a "fake disease" doesn't go along with it.

When I figured out I was Autistic, I used the word "Ass Burgers" because it made it not so serious... but just with my friend who also had it.

Probably wouldn't be too funny if a NT used it.

I find it funny regardless. It's just unfortunate that the guy who coined the disorder had such a name. Whenever I think of Ass Burgers, I think of the hilarious encyclopediadramatica article on AS:

You've gotta have some humor to get you through.

I really don't like it when people exagerate the pronounciation like that. It's not funny to call me an A$$, and then laugh at me for no justified reason. The bullies..

Because that people's basic base nature.
