About you is that they seem to see it as the key to get to know all of your personal life. One reason why I trynot to tell people things about me, espicially if said pesron has no personal impat on my life

Among reasonable people, they want personal details because they're
looking for something we have in common. Ways to connect.
With a sociopath, he's looking for ammunition.
I just don't know how to tell one from the other.

Its espicially bad when they want info that allows further interection,email, phone, adrress, msn, face book, WoW name

I have a very rudimentary understanding of the "public/private" divide. It is one of the ways I am most affected by ToM issues. I say exactly what i think in the moment and in the instant. I have little sense of how my information will be perceived and received.... Sometimes it takes years for me to understand this and it only comes about as a result of personal experience and living through the issue of over-disclosure and criticism from others. I do it over and over and over again in my life. It has been very difficult, particularly as I am on radio and television in my country - having said things I wish i had never spoken about. I have been very naive in this regard, and am only learning now, that i need to learn to accept some guidance and help around this issue.

I spoke to my mum and my sister about it this week. My mother said the AS diagnosis finally explains this issue in me. And my sister, who works in media and tv, has said to me that from now on i can run all this by her BEFORE i speak publicly on certain issues on tv and radio. I appreciate that, and hope it helps.

One of the things I learned in high school is NEVER give any personal details to anyone...it could be used against you.Just as one is advised to never give a statement to the police without a lawyer, one should also use the same principle when socializing
