during the holiday season, or does it appear to be something they try and emulate, but usually wind up crashing and burning?

The only thing I notice this season is that no one my life seems to really have their sh*t together, and everything just seems to be a massive hassle, due to their amazing "competence".

That's all I notice.

How bout you?

during my familiy get togethers it seems more of a reason to air out their griences because otherwise none of us would talk to each other. it does help remind us why we spend our time apart

no...it's not that they get worse; you just get older and see them for what they really are.

I think you're looking for the good in people. Here's a tip: don't look for it, or you'll see what's not there, and you'll keep trying 'til you "find" it. Let them show it to you first.

I didn't say people can't get worse; they can.

but I believe in many cases either they were already there, or already on the path to heading that way at some point...

I hardly notice the holiday season.... I just want to know when my vacation begins.
