I started to look into this when someone claimed that "Mad" and "Angry" were different emotions. So I looked up a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_emotions

I can feel and most of the emotions on that list, so maybe not AS?

But looking at the bottom list, the 48, I don't see distinctions between some of them:

Quote:
Negative and forceful

* Anger
* Annoyance
* Contempt
* Disgust
* Irritation

I'm not sure what Contempt is, and Annoyance and Irritation are the same to me

Quote:
Negative and not in control

* Anxiety
* Embarrassment
* Fear
* Helplessness
* Powerlessness
* Worry

To me, Anxiety, Fear and Worry are very similar if not the same, and Helplessness and Powerlessness are the same.
Quote:
Negative thoughts

* Doubt
* Envy
* Frustration
* Guilt
* Shame

Guilt and Shame are the same to me

Quote:
Negative and passive

* Boredom
* Despair
* Disappointment
* Hurt
* Sadness

Hurt and Sadness are the same to me, and Despair is very similar
Quote:
Agitation

* Stress
* Shock
* Tension

All the same to me

Quote:
Positive and lively

* Amusement
* Delight
* Elation
* Excitement
* Happiness
* Joy
* Pleasure

All these words mean the same thing to me.
Quote:
# Caring

* Affection
* Empathy
* Friendliness
* Love

All the same to me

Quote:
Positive thoughts

* Courage
* Hope
* Pride
* Satisfaction
* Trust

These are slightly different from each other

Quote:
Quiet positive

* Calm
* Content
* Relaxed
* Relieved
* Serene

All the same to me
Quote:
Reactive

* Interest
* Politeness
* Surprised

These three are very different to me

Oh, and emotions by groups is more interesting, I feel the Primary and Secondary ones as distinct, but the Tertiary emotions all seem to be synonyms of each other.

Emotions emotions. Emotions are quite difficult for me. I do read quite a bit about them. To see if I can't fit myself or even other people in to them. Mostly like, say, for example, what someone would act like when they're sad. Well, what exactly is sad? Is there a different type of sad, and I read about it carefully, sort of to give me an idea of how to act and what to do about someone who is feeling this. Or even just myself.

Sad is hard to describe... it's a feeling you get when something bad happens. I just can't tell the difference between the different types of sad.
