Why are there so many aspies who are interested in learning things?

For me, it gives my brain something to do and I find even the hardest thing to learn easier than interacting with other people. Because of my social disadvantages, I learn to fill up my time that would otherwise have been used to socialise with others had I been born with the ability to do that. I'm not saying I'm a total loner because I'm not, I do socialise occasionally, just not as often as, say, my sister.

I don't understand how people think learning things is boring.

There's so much to learn! It's like exploring space, it's endless, fascinating, and there's always more. You can never be 'done'.

Jobs are the best in the beginning, but once you've done everything and know it well it gets tedious and boring. Learning is like that for me. Once I know all of something I want to move on and find more.

I can't understand people who can go day to day at the same job, with the same level of education, watching the same ridiculous sitcoms, doing the same thing year after year after year.

What do they 'think' about when no new information is incoming? Does your brain eventually just grind to a halt or what? To me, that's robotic.

I'd say that most or all of us are interested in gathering as much information as we can on our special interests. Some of us have special interests that are more academic, others have special interests that aren't as academic. That's probably why some aspies seem more interested in "learning" than others.

I love it - there's just some sort of pleasure when I hit upon some new thing and think "I didn't know that before"

That's don't mean it. Generally aspie like learning about their obsession. On Wrongplanet it also happen that there's a lot of very intelligent aspies, and being highly intelligent bring high curiosity and a love of learning. A love of learning who add more interests to the aspie obsesions.

Me:He did dream interpretation stuff Her:WHAT?! I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT s**t! Me: Uh oh ok. (IMO this lead to talking to the teacher alot.) :-(

sometimes I think our brains are horny. It's ridiculous, but that seems to be the way mine is. I love to learn more than anything.

Why would anyone want to learn? Because it A) is something to do B) develops a person C) Can lead to new things D) keeps one from going brain dead.

Now, only learning can be bad if you don't socialize or dream as well, but asking why someone is interested in learning is pretty dumb. Are you saying the NT's don't like to learn?

Public school. I didn't realize learning things was awesome until I got to college and actually started learning awesome things.

This must certainly mean I'm not an aspie, just an NT with mental problems.
