I hate doing this, it's embarrassing.

A woman once told me when I told this to her, "Oh, it's okay. I work with senile people; I'm used to it."

Uh, thanks...I think.

Yep, I do this all the time. I had a friend who also did it all the time. I'm now wondering if she's on the spectrum, because we were so similar in our behaviours.
The problem is that I don't remember whom I told what, because I'm always mostly in my head when I talk. My speech is a stream of consciousness disconnected from the situation at hand and from the person I'm talking to.

everybody has had their turn at saying something even remotely insensitive. i have done it, and would wager that you also have done it also without intending-to. this said, a kind person would not make an issue out of a person repeating themselves, but would try to find out if the person has issues or not. as another poster said, "if they mind then they don't matter, and if they matter then they don't mind."
there are worse things than repeating oneself, such as having excessive flatulence or chronic medical BO or being thoughtlessly rude or mean. if a statement was good enough to say once, it is almost good enough to say again. though if i am not sure i asked somebody a question before, i try to preface it with something like "pardon me, i can't remember if i asked you this before, but..." and if they are a decent person they won't be offended in any way nor say anthing mean back to you.
most of us will someday end-up in the "senile" category if we live long enough, and folk who have lived that long deserve veneration simply due to putting-up with life for so long.

I do. I can tell my mum the same thing over and over again, and often I ask her for example: 'When are we going on that trip?' repeatedly, although I've already got an answer.
Mum thought I was forgetful, she even asked my investigators about it, but my memory is very good actually.
The investigators told her that I may think it feels safe, when I get the same answer on my questions serveral times, and I think they're right.

I find I do this sometimes. Most staff here just listen to me repeat myself, others (well only one actually) constantly point out that 'you (I) have just said that!' Sometimes I think i do it because I am worried that thye haven't heard me properly or are not listening. This particular member of staff in particular doesn't make it very clear if she's listening. Plus my father really WASN'T listening to me all the time as a kid so I got used to repeating everything two or three times for him!

I am very repetitve yes. I say the same thing over and over sometimes because I don't know if people have heard me or not, they don't answer me using their voice or don't nod their head in a really obvious way so how do I know? I'm not a mind reader! So I have to keep saying it until someone shows me they've heard.
Also there are a selection of things, like stories from my life or a few facts I've learned that I talk about everytime I meet someone, so the conversation seems to be going well, but that's because I'm repeating the same things I tell everyone else, I just like saying those same things some how, it's familiar and I know I'll get the right reaction so the conversation goes how I want it to. But after I've told someone those few things there's little chance of me developing the relationship with the person because I've run out of things to say and the conversations become harder because I've got to think of things on the spot. I don't think of things on the spot usually, I'm not that quick.
As soon as I have to think of things on the spot I get social anxiety and that makes it worse.

I do it mostly because I simply forget but sometimes because I've rehearsed what I want to say so often after a certain point I can't tell whether the memory of saying it is true or false. And this is completely non consequential stuff too. For instance, there's a woman in one of the office I clean that has a day by day calendar with pictures of shoes. I was going to tell her even if I was never into shoes, that those were works of art (they are). How awkward to have to rehearse that and how even more awkward to repeat it.

I don't recognize people, so often I ask them Who are you? What's your name? Where are you from?

I often feel like I'd be unhearable, I ask for sth simple, noone answers me, noone cares, I can repeat, repeat... and nothing. I really feel like I really was behind the glass, not only my sensation. It's strange

Same here... The "glass wall" association describes it perfectly.
