Question: Has anyone ever worked out a connection between MBTI results and Asperger's. In particular do Aspies tend to be INTP or INTJ?

I personally don't know of a connection, but you raise an interesting point. I am ISTJ. (corrected after finding my results again)

Yes, it's been brought up before. Asperger's and INTJ/INTP do seem to be linked.

The MBTI is a psychological personality test.

The other acronyms are results.

I am also INTJ, and I believe that pretty much every Aspie would start I, because the acronym stands for introverted.

The MBTI is well-known among people with at least a passing interest in psychology, which should include a fair number of people on an Asperger's board. And in any case, if you don't know the acronym there's always this thing called Google. Or Wikipedia.

I think there's a fairly large number of people with AS who have the NT temperament (or, if you're not familiar with the Keirsey temperaments, just the middle letters of their type being N and T, or iNtuitive and Thinking). Not all people with AS are introverts. I'm ENTJ. It doesn't mean that I have good social skills, though, and the sensory issues are still there so I do have to recharge after being in a highly stimulating environment. I'm not shy around people, though, and start conversations easily. I'm also very outspoken, energetic, and outgoing. I seek out human contact if it's around people who are not critical of me.

I have the same problem - those who use such shorthand confuse those who don't know what it means and come across as arrogant (deliberately using such terms for this very purpose but this may not be necessarily true).

I'm an ISFP, though I don't really put too much importance on personality tests.

The MBTI is not a personality test. The free online tests are not accurate enough to tell you your true type. I always get ESTJ on these tests, but that does not match me at all. You've got to see what type fits you the best by asking yourself and others what they think of you, using the result that you got from the test as backup only.
There's more to it than just a simple personality test.
