For example I find sales numbers interesting so lately I've been wow Avatar made X amount of money. Or just now while the 10yr. old was doing math I asked her if she knew what a Google was (dad said SHE'S DOING HOMEWORK!!) (IMO he was rude as usual) then I thought to myself I always like tossing out random facts about stuff and was curious if other Aspies did this thanks. :-)

I wait til they finish the sentence, then I blurt it out, and they don't see the connection to what they just said so they are like 8O :?

I will quite often give a detailed explanation of any Ant species that may appear on TV, much to the frustration and boredom of whoever I'm with  and god forbid some movie would include an inaccurate recreation of a particular species lol (Indiana Jones! *bites tounge* *sigh*)

I do that and . . .

sometimes that.

In many cases it's related to the conversation (though sometimes only minimally), but not always. I'm notorious for correcting people when they say something that is factually incorrect. A good example is around Thanksgiving, I am constantly correcting the false notion that tryptophan found in turkey is the cause of feeling tired after eating.

Facts! I love researching random crap! I especially like researching false myths (like if you go into the swimming pool less than a hour after you eat you get cramps) so if someone brings them up, I can explain why it's BS :P

In fact, I've spent whole days on Snopes doing this!

I also know technical details of gadgets, computers and cars so I can quote them when needed.

Sometimes I just like the reaction I get when I do it. I was in a Sony shop once and I ended up helping people choose which stuff to buy because I had the same knowledge as the staff :D

I only do that when someone starts talking about something that happens to be a special interest of mine.
Especially Pixar, Myst, outer space, and Greek mythology. Which are the only four out of all my interests I know the most about.
I also tend to bash on a film that I really hate when someone brings it up.

For example, on Monday, people in our class were talking about how great Avatar was, and I started ranting about how it was only visually brilliant, rather than story-wise.
And how it was a bit unoriginal and people got mad at me =P
Then when asked what film I DO like, I said Where the Wild Things Are, and people disagreed, saying it was too dark and too emotional.

I love listing facts with best friends (my best friends do that too) and we especially live ranting about things we hate, or as I call them Unspecial Disinterests.

But I have learned to try to keep my mouth shut as much as possible, but sometimes I just cannot resist (whether it's listing facts, ranting, or correcting people)

I also blurt out random stuff in the middle of others' sentences. I'll forget if I don't say or do whatever it is at that particular moment.
I also like to check Learn Something Every Day daily.

I probably should have changed the colour or something.... Learn Something Every Day in the post above is a hyperlink, but it doesn't seem to be immediately recognizable as such.

Yeah. I don't think it's usually "random" though, except when i can't think of anything to say and just reach for a random fact to bring up a topic. I think the "random facts" i come up with are usually on topic, but other people there just might not always be following the same train of thought that i am..

I do it to. I usually do it when no one else is talking, or when they finish a conversation. I have interrupted them mid conversation though (although I'm unaware of doing that until I've done it).

If I didn't do it I'd have very little to talk about.

I always tell people facts about Space, I have to stop myself from mentioning the Big Bang around my mum though.

i try to wait, i do, but often i find i am already interrupting and about halfway through sharing my thoughts before i am aware of the social faux-pas i have just committed. :D
