I did as a child I am still living with my parents though LOL! (of course I don't have the money to live on my own) :-) My little 8 year old sister said it today and has said it on occasion so I was curious about the people on Wrongplanet. :-)

I did when I was about 18...I felt like it was a rite of passage that I needed to attend to..the first time was a disaster..I moved in with two co-workers who were best freidns who i did not fit in with....and um..well...I was not socially prepaed to handle it. Eventualy i was asked to leave because I didn't fit in...I couch surfed between my parents house and my boyfriend's house for two years before attempting to venture out on my own again...and have lived away from my parents house ever since.

I wanted to leave home at 16 because I couldn't stand my family.

Never say this to them, it just gets them all crazy and makes them say "so leave then!" and once they make you it sucks even more especially when your caught off gaurd like that with nowhere to go.

I never told them I wanted to leave, but supposedly it was obvious in the last year I was there. It was not the fact that I had issues with my family, I just wanted my space... and I like doing things my own way.

I told my parents since I was 10 that I was so outta there when I got big. They said I couldn't leave their 'auspicies' with out being married and I was against that idea. They could not even start to think of me as 'on my own' in the world, only loose and wayword women did such things. It was the times, too. By the time I was 18 the world had changed a lot in those eight years but I was still going to be gone. It took some doing but I finally got a ride with some people going to a little music and art fair up in Woodstock, NewYork and got away from my parents. I never went back but for a week in 1993 to do a 9th step and then again when my mom passed away.

Tt's funny when they suggest it or mention it then I say "okay" and THEN they change their mind and say 'stay'......it would be interesting to go voluntarily homeless for a day or so...try it out for a little while and do the same for increasing time periods and the like, just for the hell of it....

Yes, ever since I could remember. I didn't want to be part of a family. I wanted to do my own things.

Yes, constantly since I was in my early teens! I hated living with my parents! Mom even threatened to get me my own place when I was about 14. I actually tried to encourage her, but it didn't work. Guess I used the wrong approach! Ironic, since I didn't actually move out until in my early 20s. Reason why I stayed so long was after I was of age to move out, they didn't want me to go. Seems I was a cheap/freehouse sitter. But even that got old & I bailed on them.
