I've spent years trying to get diagnosed as Aspergers, and finally was yesterday. Now I'm not sure what to do next!

What is there to do next?

For me getting a diagnosis was to help me get a job. I made the decision to tell people I knew, several at the same time using social networking sites.

If you already have a good job then just sit back and relax, you have AS.

Just curious: why did you seek a diagnosis?

I've been diagnosed for over a year and I'm not sure what to do next, either - but then I was never sure what to do next anyway. I blame the AS. :?

A shower seems like a good place to start for today. I'll do that. :D

What next? Now comes understanding.

Think back over the years about all the social occasions when things have gone wrong then try to link these with aspie symptoms. Eventually you will realize what's been going wrong in your life and (hopefully) take some corrective action.

This is the 'Ah!!' moment.

For someone who comes to the conclusion that AS is the only reasonable explanation for their problems before actually finding a professional who knows anything about it, the "Ah!!" moment is closer to the time of first researching AS, or of reading the stories' of people with AS. Having a professional confirm the diagnosis can give the sense of it being "for sure," but the "thinking back" bit would have occurred long before the diagnosis.

My primary focus would be to improve my social skills as much as possible.

I have had therapy before I have come to realization that I could be an aspie.... and this brought me to the period of my life where I was heavily interested in society as a tangent whole.

It has taken quite a bit of work for me to be where I am at today. I am able to speak with people (initiate conversation), attempt to relate to another individuals interest, and increase the quality of relationships.

God's Debris by Scott Adams helped out tremendously with orientating my perspective further on this matter. Dossiers also help. I have one for each individual I associate with for more than a month.

Even if I do not have Asperger's it has tremendously affected my life in a positive and constructive manner. I am able to function.

Although most do not know what I am speaking of when I open my mouth.
